Halo on PC

Let’s make the assumption that Halo 6 comes to PC. Here’s an article to munch on.

What do you believe this will do to the competitive scene of Halo?

Save it?
Ruin it?
Change it?
Will competitive remain mostly console?
Will everyone shift to PC?

What do you think?

I think this is impossible to predict, because it is far too dependent on what kind of a reception Halo 6 gets overall, and hence dependent on what kind of a game Halo 6 will be. If Halo 6 isn’t a game that appeals to the PC crowd, for whatever reason, then we’re obviously not going to see significant growth. If Halo 6 did appeal to the PC crowd enough to sustain a reasonable population, then it’s entirely possible the competitive scene could start moving towards PC. With that said, I don’t think we’d ever end up in a situation where everyone, or even almost everyone, will shift to PC. After all, people buy games for the device they have, and just like not everyone owns, or is interested in owning, an Xbox, neither does everyone own or is interested in owning a gaming PC. Massive platform migrations just aren’t a thing because a happy Xbox gamer has little reason to move to PC.

I think the PC side of things are tough to predict, but I don’t think it will affect the console side at all. I feel 90% or more will play on Xbox for MM.

We just need Halo 6 to be well received and sell a lot of copies.

I would definitely agree. Well said.

I think this has been proven with CoD, correct? Most of the competitive realm is played on PS4? (I may be mistaken)

CoD, and many other multiplatform games show that people don’t just flock to a single platform. With some exceptions, games seem to do equally well on all plaform when the size of the platform is taken into account (i.e., a game is more popular on one platform than another only because the platform has more players who can play that game).

I have always done gaming with an XBOX and will never be moving to PC. plain and simple. with halo coming to pc I feel like the only thing it would affect is the competitive side of things but I don’t thing it would be a huge impact.

And, of course, XBox and PS are looking at cross-play options IIRC.

Do you think this is a majority thought or a minority thought? I’ve been keeping an eye out on twitter and if I were to ballpark, it seems as though the majority of competitive-minded players would be very happy to play on PC instead of Xbox.

well it’s like tsassi said earlier, if people are happy playing on their xbox then they probably won’t move to pc. but I guess a good question to ask would be what are the reasons someone would rather play halo on a PC?

Don’t bump an old thread after you already posted in the current one.
