A good approach for sure. Personally it’s what I was expecting with Halo 5’s approach - finding the Blue Team prowler on Meridian gave you Argent Moon, etc.
At this point if it gets blue team in the game in any playable capacity I’m in. I still want some missions with the whole team though.

Yea this would have been a much better format, such a shame it got overlooked and replaced with what we got.
I would love to see a Halo Infinite DLC campaign levels where Frederic-104, Kelly-087 and Linda-058 are the main characters. Hopefully we can see that being part of the 10 years plan for Halo Infinite.

Halo 5’s story underwent such a hatchet job late in production- probably in large part due to a small but vocal section of the community having a bad reaction to Hunt the Truth.
It’s one reason I think Infinite isn’t doing a similar marketing campaign - they don’t want to risk being thrown off course by it.

I think Hunt the Truth was part of it but post release one of the bigger criticisms was the abandonment of the stories relevance (I loved HTT so I am very biased tbf). I think the bigger last minute dev change was the implementation of the squad system which while I appreciate the sentiment behind the idea but it changed the tone away from what the marketing presented before which was it being locke heavy story as well as a Chief vs Locke story. It was an especially bad decision to do that close before release. It altered the script to force in a bunch of exposition that failed to show why we should have interest in characters and filled the moments we were supposed to be appreciating the game and our surroundings with irrelevant jabber. I would be alright with extra promotions as long as they aren’t necessary to understand the story either so its a bit of a balancing act. I would maybe be alright with the squad system as well had they properly built up to it with characters over multiple games having their own titles or strong lore relevance.

Where are you getting the squad system thing from? Wasn’t H5’s director known for Squad systems - e.g. Republic Commando?
I didn’t like the implementation, but my sense is it was always there. The story changes were more structural.
A better way to tell that story after Hunt the Truth would have been to start with only Osiris’ perspective: Blue Team have gone AWOL. You need to find them. Players would then go on that journey with Osiris from: ‘Are Blue Team rogue?’ to ‘Hang on, Cortana?’ to ‘Actually… are Blue Team right here?’ to ‘Oh we really need to help Blue Team’. That journey of making us doubt Chief and then having him redeemed would have been so much more effective.
Plus… just drop 5 from the name - never imply it was a Chief-focused game. That whole Locke vs Chief thing was not a smart marketing strategy at all because no one in the community was going to choose Locke
I actually hope Blue team isn’t in the main campaign. Don’t get me wrong, I love blue team, but that’s why I don’t want them there. The most development we got in Guardians for them was basically just “this is Chief’s team” and that’s it.
This is probably wishful thinking but I would absolutely prefer a campaign DLC solely focused on Blue team without the Chief. It would give us such a better opportunity to get to know them as real characters. Ideally I’d want a story about them heading to the Ark, possibly as a secondary measure to prevent Zeta from firing. That way they could also be responsible for rescuing Red team and the Spirit of Fire so they could be wrapped into the ongoing narrative with Halo Wars 3 not happening.

Not a bad suggestion, but surely the place to set that up was Shadows of Reach? Divine Wind could yet, though, I suppose

Absolutely. Halo can absolutely do a larger cast - Reach and ODST prove that. Halo 5 misfired that badly

I mean in fairness to the creative team and devs… hindsight is always 20/20. They must have had reasons and evidence pushing them down the path they took - as well as pressure from above.

It would be cool but they should focus on chief in the campaign maybe dlc would be cool
