if its anything after or around Halo 4 -Infinite, it would have to be a different team than Alpha 9, since they are spartans now. as much as I like the Spartan-IVs and Alpha 9, they can not be the focus of a game called âODSTâ because they are no longer ODSTs (instead, I think there should be a Spartan-IV spin-off game, like ODST or Reach). There are still so many ODSTs out there during the time of 4-Infinite that any team can be chosen or created to focus on, that way the game being called âODSTâ would still work.
Eh, Like the other guy who replied a new ODST team and setting it after halo 5 or maybe even sometime before halo reach could be cool. Smaller stakes, new team and similar formula to halo 3 odst. The idea of being behind enemy lines, lurking and completing objectives. Maybe have a underlying mystery and all.
I think a ODST game with Alpha 9 after halo 3 would possibly feel to much like call of duty. They mentioned that after halo 3 that alpha 9 mostly was fighting insurrectionist.
If they did bring alpha 9 back for as the focus of a game, they gotta somehow incorporate the mission the rookie died on as a mission. either as a flashback or as the opening. Unless they decide to retcon his death (they probably wouldnât).
In a different direction, i also think it could be interesting if they made this focusing more on post halo 3 where alpha 9 wouldâve been used more to stop insurrectionist and then end that type of game with the rookieâs last mission.
Would you have any reservations about humans being most of the enemies if they focused on alpha 9 post halo 3?
I personally feel like Halo would feel alot different if the enemies were human. It might end up kinda feeling like cod. I think at some capacity the franchise is struggling to move on from the covenant for this very reason.
I think it might feel different for sure, but that doesnât have to be a bad kind of different. theres a right way and a wrong way to do it. I think the wrong way would be to make it a cod with a halo skin. I think a right way would be to make it a the gameplay like is expected of halo, but a story that focuses on the nuances of human on human combat in the halo universe. things like the dissatisfaction of troops to be used against insurrectionists more than covenant remnants post war, that lead to mickeyâs disaffection with the UNSC, the rookieâs death and the loss felt by his squad, and mickeyâs betrayal.
that feeling of different could be good if communicated well with the good story, especially since âdifferentâ is what some troops felt about being used to fight humans post war.
generally just more human concepts that i think give games and movies soul and lets them live on in perpetuity.
ODSTs no Spartans. Bring Dare back as lead for the mission. Have her âpassing the torchâ to a younger ONI agent like Macer from Nightfall. Have it on a Guardian controlled world. Set during Cortanaâs Reign. ODSTs and Dare have a mission to retrieve assets to fight Cortana or to shut down an AI of the Created. Show the us the audience IN GAME what state the colonies are in. Small stakes, low tech.
If they make another ODST game Iâd prefer it to be a completely new ODST squad.
I donât think A9 are very interesting characters except maybe Micky in the books.
But thatâs me, and I know theyâre popular
just normal ODST , and this time takr the time to make us feel and play like acctual humans, H3ODST we more or less felt like spartans but with a bit of recoil and slightly weaker meele. we could still crush wraiths wkth bare hands, take on brutes regulary in hand to hand, rip turrets from their emplscements and full auto fire while moving relatively fast without issiues , be able to carry more grenades then spartans ( 4 times 3 grenades ) tank heavy weapon fire without shields ( basicly ee had this weired stamina thing that accted exactly like a reskinned shield )etc.
