Halo now has less players than Destiny 2

Halo infinite has problems, but Destiny 2 only serves to prove that no matter how barebones the game is or confusing its many many packs are… People will eat it up.

Gimme that ranked Swat!

Maybe but over 40% population loss is something Halo 3 never had to deal with and this game was meant to be a 10 year plan and yet there failing within weeks of release.

I kind of feel like at first they aimed for big but then later decided to get a bit of an ego like they did with Halo 5 so they cut a lot of corners to try rush out a game then got caught then tried again then get caught…kind of feels like 343i haven’t learnt their lesson. Plus the whole live service model kind of just showed how bad the company is becoming and it’s scary that 343i think this is acceptable.

Only time will tell if these numbers are worrying. I think the game is “still” doing fine, but yeah, I guess it won’t be easy (at least with this mentality from 343) to maintain on the top.

Personally, I like the gameplay - they somehow nailed the hardest part, but they somehow managed to completly fail on other parts of the game.

I’ve never expected this game to launch with all gametypes in history, but launching this game just with BTB & Quick Play to begin with was a huge mistake. The backlash was more than deserved. What was even more annoying was the excuse and the fact that they didn’t expect that kind of backlash - dude you’re launching a game with 5% worth of content, how did you not expect that? And why would you add phrases like: “we’ll be monitoring the health of the playlists…” - for real?

Maybe I’m biased, but Halo is far more different than most other FPS out there. I’m not even talking about the gameplay, I’m talking about the experience as a whole. There are dozens of communities and everyone is enjoying something else - Halo stands and falls with it’s unique gameplay & variety.

Additionally to all the missing gamemodes, career stats, prog. system, the lack of Forge was the biggest mistake they could’ve made. The fact that we probably won’t get Forge or a custom game browser until the end of 2022 is mind boggling. Even the U.I. doesn’t look a finished product.

I’m not trying to be overly negative here, but I honestly think that a lot of potenial has been missed.

If the population is going down that fast already I would say it has more to do with the lack luster maps and the progression for the battle pass is pretty slow and actually fells a bit unrewarding. The progression being challenge based actually kinda encourages you to go for challenges and not actually winning. I know going for challenges cost me the win on quite a few games( it was FFA where I was trying to get kills with the lame plasma carbine or whatever)… Also even the premium battle pass stuff isn’t very good after getting it any ways. The store is over priced cosmetics. Having more ranked playlist is pretty low on the list of issues IMO.

I am worried. The future of HALO.
Infinite, which was made at the expense of my beloved game HALO WARS 2, is in this state …
It ’s a painful event.

Uh how about fix the match making for BTB? I cannot que solo, and sometimes with 2 other people I can’t que with people!

This is true, but I’ve seen games like Destiny 2 launch and within the first 3 months they lost 80% of their player base. How a game is designed especially how this one is now vs previous titles. I don’t see a health player base sticking around until the game has enough content added to it.

Right now, it’s safe to say Infinite is Barbone and that is not going to sit well with many knowing they would have to fork out money just to feel they are getting something out of this game.

Hi, I’d like to join in and talk smack on the game too, eventhough I’d give the MP a solid 7/10, which is the same as my college grades, which I boost up to 9/10. So 343, I still have love for you.

Anyways.

  1. The weopon balance is, for the first time, UN-Halo-LIKE !!!
Call me a newb but using the plasma pistol is harder than ever.
Needler still sucks -Yoink!- after 6+ iterations of the game. Ravager is a utterly useless weopon.
Some of the guns seem like Campaign only guns, like the Commando, Hydra, Pulse Carbine; they are only good at killing one-shots.

  2. Vehicles are utterly useless.
Call me a newb, but as soon as you enter a vehicle, it gets blown up, or flips over from rocks.
The banshee is absolute trash. How do you ruin something that previously was just fine?

  3. The disappointingly low number of weapons.
-no beam rifle, no spartan laser
    -lack of promethean guns
-no flamethrower, or specialty guns like Incineration Cannon
… and I’m just comparing it to other halos.
When I compare to other games, it’s pretty pathetic

  4. Map design is mediocre.
That one BTB map… what’s it called, you put a pit in the middle, and how many times did I drive into it? wtf?
What happened to creativity in level design? Asymmetric maps like Zanzibar and Burial grounds (designed for one-bomb), headlong with skyscrapers, damnation with the multiple stories. What happened to portals? too complex architecture for the map designer? Basically in h6, there are just these seattle wilderness looking maps, and forerunner hallway maps, and a few forced earth-like military base maps. Where are the covenant/alien sci-fi maps like chillout, and spacey-eerie maps like Boarding Action? (it had a sense of whitespace, a creepy void, sometimes less detail is more).

  5. Game Types are Incomplete, Non-existant, or just Poorly Implemented.
Why break the norm? there are some maps like Valhalla, and blood gulch, that have symmetry and that specifically work with CTF. Halo guns and mechanics are still traditional by 2021 standards, so why disconnect that from traditional map designs and the working game types? Halo basically invented one flag CTF with the likes of Zanzibar, High Ground, etc. Just take the easy way out 343, give us remakes of proven maps. BG, Zanzibar, Hang em High, Guardian, Lockout etc.

  6. Progression system is trash.
It’s too hard to level up. You remember when you picked up one of the first games that would reward you with medals and awards and achievements? You didn’t know it at first, but you were being rewarded for doing the most Basic things. It felt good to be rewarded. It was what brought players in… it gave players confidence… made them think they were good, only to get pwnt online, but that’s still OK. They can call h4x and vent. It’s all good.

  7. Why is voice chat broken? why not bring back proximity chat? it was gold in halo 2. Spiritual reboot should go back to the good days where I can talk smack about someone’s mom before I melee them. You figure out how to do parental control, don’t ask me.

Hahaha pinnacle of the series?! Thanks for the laugh. Multiplayer sucked and the game bombed, halo 5 was garbage. Not defending this game, it sucks just as bad as 4 and 5. Let’s be real 343 can’t make a decent halo game.

Have you considered that it’s the holiday weekend? Most people are spending time with family.

but thats one aspect thats still nothing as a whole to compare besides the point he made was that comparing the player numbers of d2 to halo is not a fair comparison as d2 has 3 platforms of players while halo has 2 and the gameplay loop is completely different so why compare them when they dont need to be compared at all

Summary

at this point im going to say it. after almost 10 years ive grown completely fed up with these Developers at 343i.
i genuinely at this point want Halo infinite to lose all its playerbase numbers and the game to flop like Anthem did, so that MS can realize that 343i are incapable oh managing this franchise the way the fans want and will Spend money and hours galore on, all that is needed to be done is finally Axe the contract with them and fire them, if it means that Halo goes dorment for however long so we can fianlly get a competent game studio managing halo and not blatantly out of touch 343i, id be for it.

and that pains me to say that because ive fallen in love with this franchise ever since 2005 when i got introduced to the franchise with Halo 2 by a random boy i befriended while on a camping vacation with my family. even playing through during the franchises hardships because i love this franchise.

2012: Halo 4 Released and chased the Call of Duty Trend, angering the Halo fans to a large degree on the multiplayer side.

2014: MMC releases absolutely Broken beyond measure on Xbox One, disrespecting the fans.

2015: releases Halo 5 and its Awfully written campaign and its garbage Cosmetic being locked behind RNG Loot Boxes fisaco. No BTB at launch, no Forge at Launch. No Split Screen coop

2019: Releasing YET AGAIN MCC completely broken but this time on PC, a community who has been waiting to Finish the Fight for over a Decade.

and finally
2021: Halo Infinite, Where do i even begin?
Predatory Monetisation model, Going Free to Play (despite the please of the community not to), Cosmetic options absolutely Gutted in order to fuel the Aforementioned Cash shop, Snails pace progression to also fuel the aforementioned Cash shop. No Coop for Campaign (not even Splitscreen) AGAIN!, No Forge at Launch AGAIN!! No infection at Launch AGAIN!!!, Barely ANY Playlists, and a barely working custom games. and NO BLODDY ANTI CHEAT!!!..IN 2021…moving into 2022

in recent years the only good thing 343i did (was apart of) was Halo Wars 2 and that was made by a seperate studio. but 1 good game launch doesnt absolve you of the failures of 5 awful game launches. Halo infinite has left me so insanely jaded,

Microsoft if youre reading this by any chance, its time to face reality, its time to Cut the dead weight (343 Industries) so that Halo can finally prosper. over the years 343i has proven themselves too incompetent to manage this franchise.

Halo now has less players than Destiny 2

THIS JUST IN. MMO/Shooter focused on PvE content has higher retention than 99% of big budget shooters ever released.

im sorry you feel that way but I dont think thats gonna help anyone I want infinte to succeed not flop and it will succeed if you dont want it to thats fine tis your choice

Probably because people like me can’t even play multiplayer without it crashing to desktop.

why do people think that if ifninte flops we get better devs? odds are we get folks that have no idea and be in a worse state

Predatory Monetisation model

This continues to be one of the dumbest talking points on this forum. There’s lots to find fault with when it comes to the monetization system, but to call it “predatory” is hyperbolic stupidity. There’s a shop that you can buy things in. There’s a battle pass that you can purchase. In both instances its clear what you get whenever you make a purchase. Nothing about this is “predatory.”

Going Free to Play (despite the please of the community not to)

You mean a minority of players whined on the forums about F2P, but going F2P has had zero material impact on the gameplay experience (no pay to win, nothing purchasable that affects gameplay, and so on)

Cosmetic options absolutely Gutted in order to fuel the Aforementioned Cash shop

Yeah there needs to be more cosmetic options that aren’t locked behind paywalls for sure.

Snails pace progression to also fuel the aforementioned Cash shop

I don’t even know what this means. What are you talking about?

No Coop for Campaign

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. Have you considered that maybe, just maybe, implementing a co-op system isn’t as trivial as you think?

No Forge at Launch AGAIN

Boy if it happened “AGAIN” then maybe, JUST MAYBE, it’s not a trivial feature.

No infection at Launch AGAIN!!!

Bruh are you seriously raging this hard at a random gametype? Here watch, I can pick something arbitrary that was in a previous Halo game that was missing for the sequel:

“Halo 2 is garbage. It launched without the ASSAULT RIFLE.”

See how stupid this sounds?

Barely ANY Playlists, and a barely working custom games. and NO BLODDY ANTI CHEAT

These are actual legitimate things that should get fixed.

in recent years the only good thing 343i did (was apart of) was Halo Wars 2 and that was made by a seperate studio. but 1 good game launch doesnt absolve you of the failures of 5 awful game launches. Halo infinite has left me so insanely jaded,

Doesn’t take much to have an awful launch, then. If that paragraph above are the core problems with Halo Infinite as it stands right now, it seems like it’s in a pretty good place imo. But if you’re just so butthurt about the missing features, why not just wait a year for all that stuff to go in? Why are you here complaining about things that we already know they’re working on?

Could not have said it better myself.

@Rath_of_Rabbits Of course not, because this is just a whiny regurgitated list of literally every forum complain thread that’s been made over the past five weeks.

I kinda agree ifninte is in a good place yeah it has issues everygame does but I dont think it needs to flop over easy fixes I think these 2 like you said are too butthurt to see the forest through the trees and just focus on the negatives only and none of the positives
