Halo now has less players than Destiny 2

That is worrying.

I think BTB is a big draw and that being broken is a massive problem. I am not as keen to throw myself into games with it being intermittent. By far the funnest mode and it’s doesn’t help having only three maps.

I said this about Halo 5 and it’s true here. The game should have had Forge, even in a limited capacity and custom games browser at launch. Because at that point people can go mad and churn out maps and playlists for you. Even if you don’t have all that much official content; it doesn’t matter. Build it and they will come and all that.

By all means they can hype forges release as a new game. Perhaps that will be enough. It’s still missing out on the initial hype and means people may make their minds up by then.

And realistically as well, we only know the Infinite player population on PC compared to over a decade ago when some console player populations were only shown in specific titles.

It’s always fun to compare and contrast things like this because on some level you can attribute the rise/fall to various factors and even popularity in some generalized standpoints. The topic title alone is an attention grabber, it’s a tad competitive and people are going to want to chime in.

Population can dictate the fun and enjoyment players have in the game. I don’t think we’ll be seeing that effect here of course, but it can influence matchmaking times among the various segregating factors within the specific title (playlists/ranks/etc) and can even outright be the determining factor that causes a game to shut down entirely (Lawbreakers, Evolve).

It all needs to be taken with a grain of salt and attention to context however. Even my comment doesn’t paint the whole picture, just scribbles in some details.

Know what you mean. Halo 3 was an exclusive paid game and it did far better while Infinite is a multi-platform game and yet somehow doing worse and even then Infinite multiplayer is sort of free even if it blocks content.

Locking us out of cross core was most likely a higher up choice, but it was no mistake. They don’t want players to unlock the attachment in one core and be able to use it across all cores just like Coatings. This way instead of actually giving you more combinations and choices they can just keep selling us the same stuff but for each core.

Remember these customizations is how they are trying to make money, so the more they lock it down to where you can only use this color red on this core, and if you want it on this core that’s a separate purchase the better for them.

I mean look at Scarlet wake red. It was a monetized coating that went on one core sold in a bundle.

But they resold it for the reach core under a new name and new bundle. Basically paying for the same color twice.

That’s the game they wanted to play and it’s catching up to them.

I believe this, there were games that came out around those times as well that could detract from population numbers as well, but not leave a massive impact.

There are some single player powerhouses that pulled players away from the two multiplayer behemoths, but not enough to leave any permanent scars.

Again, there were far less game outlets back in the day, nowadays you could probably scroll through Steam’s Top 100 analytics and recognize 25% of the title at most with the other 75% not even being heard of.

As much as I have loved Halo since it’s conception, I think they need to give Master Chief a rest for good this time. I’m getting kind of tired of watching these companies drag his 50 year old corpse around and I really don’t think I’ll be here to watch him turn 60 in another 10 years or whenever they finally finish Halo: Infinite.

I’d much rather see Xbox cut it’s losses, and start with a brand new IP. Unfortunately though, Xbox has no writing talent, sure they have some technical wizards I guess, but when it comes to creating a great story, Xbox/Microsoft just plain suck at that. Look at their failed Exclusives time and time again.

I mean, they couldn’t think of anything to create on their own, so they ended up buying Bethesda to hopefully fill the hole.

Destiny 2 is now ahead of Halo on Steam (though only by a few thousand players), but on the Xbox most played games chart we are at #4 for Halo Infinite vs #9 for Destiny 2.

I agree that this game needs alot of improvements though, the playerbase bleed-off has been plain to see, they have lost about 4/5ths of the PC playerbase since release and on Xbox most played it has dropped from #2 to #4 since release. Some bleed-off was always going to happen no matter what, as it does for almost all multiplayer games after release, but this bleed-off has been unusually fast (especially on Steam) and I do think they are going to lose even more players if we don’t see some major improvements soon like better progression, better monetization, more ranked playlists, the first map pack, etc.

and their fixing it to they did say cross core is on the list of fixes

That’s Nice :+1:
I’ll try to find time to care as I play more…

Possibly but it’s not as time consuming as they stated. There was a YouTuber that described how it’s in the programing but they had to purposely lock us out aka put in the code to not allow us. And they just have to remove that portion of the code and it wouldn’t be detrimental to the game.

The time consuming part is that business team has to find a way to still monitize armor core customization. They are not doing any of these changes out of the kindness of their heart, its a business that wants to make money. Halo Infinite wasn’t made for the gamers. They wanted this to be their revolving cash door.

So since they got caught with bits having cross core customization they now feel we should get it or come up with a lie as to why their in game bots have it but not us.

Either way remember each response of it’s going to take time is code for let’s buy the business team time to find a new monitizations scheme for this.

In their heads they are thinking how much money they will lose by allowing us to cross core customize instead of reselling us the same leg attachment again.

My covid booster laid me out for a couple days, didnt expect it. Handled the other two like a champ. Plus side was I caught up on a lot of sleep.
On topic
I find it kinda awful theres a fleshed out store, and new armors already being released
When elite fans were denied an option to play as an elite in infinite
Crossing the line would be selling a default elite core-cores.
You can mtx to death the elite customization, but let players earn in game currency to unlock the basic default

The only thing that makes sense is that the higher frame rate makes aiming smoother. The pros played on series x at the LAN and most play on PC otherwise and that seemed smooth to me. My guess is playing on last gen makes aiming hard with 30 fps.

yeah vehicles need a buff and physics fix ground vehicles like the warthog tip over too much ghost and banshee i feel need slightly more hp

agreed the amount of weapons is kinda boring i’ve already seen them all and the plasmas pistol is kinda useless tbh… the shotgun is no longer an actual shotgun… and the AR has imho TOO MUCH range.

High power, and yeat that pit in the center needs to go. i once flipped a warthog and somehow by the miracle of some stupidty in the code it kept moving despite being flipped on it’s side into that pit like thee was a Sarlacc pulling it in. (look it up it’s a star wars creature)

Lack of Assault lack of other modes, Launch site is the ONLy good one flag map it’d work perfect with the one bomb mode of assault… I’d love to see a remake of Zanzibar/Last resort.

I don’t even have to point out you don’t get anything for feats like stickies or any special medals, you only get exp for 'playing the game" or if you have weekly challenges “Win this gametype” "kill with this weapon “play this gametype.” they all seem very bland to be honest especiallyt the dumb participation trophey “Play a game” one you can literally rank up by just sitting in a game juggling weapons… I mean you really don’t have to do anything once the weeklies are done.

Is it broken? maybe that’s why nobody responded to me when i used voice chat ONE TIME.

Lol since you brought up steam why don’t you go ahead and see the 200k player plummet since late November…oh wait that goes against you’re narrative.

Lol I expected this response after seeing how unpopular you’re opinion of halo 5 and 4 is. Stats don’t lie and in both those games the populations dropped over 50% within a couple months, so I guess you’re opinion is the one that really doesn’t matter does it?

Well Destiny 2 is, for all intents and purposes, an MMO, so youre kind of comparing apples to oranges here.

when a game and a developer, create a problem and then decide to sell you back the solution… that predatory.

You realize that because you use this incredibly loose definition, then selling map packs is predatory right?

" but going F2P has had zero material impact on the gameplay experience" Comment is factually incorrect.

Cosmetics don’t have an impact on gameplay. I know it’s hard to comprehend, but gameplay is the part of the game where you’re shooting people.

the fact i need to elaborate shows me you are ignorant.

No it’s because your comment was stupid and vague. But I get it now thanks to your explanation. Yeah I’m not gonna argue that the challenge system was purposefully designed to incentivize challenge swaps.

theb the game shouldve been delayed again, exspeccially after promissing that Split screen coop would make a return for the next halo after Halo 5, clearly that was a bold faced lie.

First of all: Delaying another what? 6 months? A year? For a co-op feature that a minority of players would use? That’s pretty stupid. Second: It’s not a lie. Things in game dev change all the time. They probably had every intent, delayed to 2021, and realized it just wasn’t going to happen. Sorry.

a game should never launch without core features that released in the series past.

Man this post is just a goldmine for truly stupid hot takes. Games do this all the time.

Look to my Point above again for my answer to this.

Yeah your point was really dumb. Your solution was delaying the game, which almost certainly wasn’t an option.

Aaaaaaaaaaaand this is where im stopping, because this comment just proves just how Tone Deaf you are and how ignorant you are of Halo and its past. you are seriously thinking that Infection…

I’m so ignorant of Halo’s history that I remember when infection wasn’t even a thing.

a fan beloved game mode that is 90% of custom games and sparked hundreds of variations, is a "Random, Arbitrary gamemode?

Because it is.

Jesus christ, you cannot be this uneducated about halo unless you only came in late into Halo 5’s life span, Infection is one of the most important modes in this franchise

So important it wasn’t even in Halo CE or Halo 2.

the fact you denigrate it to “just a random arbitrary gametype” reveals youre ignorance on the halo franchise.

We did infection LAN parties for days straight. I love the gametype plenty. It’s not in Halo Infinite right now, which is unfortunate. Are they gonna add it at a later date? Almost certainly. It’s a really popular mode. Raging about it is actually stupid, though.

anyway thats where im stopping, and im not going to reply back further because its useless trying to argue with someone as foolish and uninformed as you are

I’m plenty informed. What I find ironic is that you’re calling me ignorant, but you have the gall to think delaying the game for co-op is a reasonable solution.

Yup I play on a series x and this week I went to some families home played on a New X and it felt like I was just floating almost like I was one step behind my controllers response

  • Random challenges that you can buy swaps for.
  • Challenge swaps padding the Battle Pass.
  • Locked colors.
  • Split shoulder pads, coatings, visors and emblems.
  • Shop item rotation.
  • Armor lockers.
  • etc.

It’s more likely a problem from the development hell the game went through than it being difficult to implement.

Playlists, custom games and anti-cheat systems are actually quite important, though fixing the other problems the game has should probably happen first.

We really shouldn’t be seeing more complaints about the same things until February, since they’re not going to be doing anything until January.
However, I wouldn’t say it’s bad that people are still complaining, since it might make sure that they’ll focus on getting the game fixed.

It really doesn’t seem like they have fans of the series in the company.
At least, they don’t seem to be the ones deciding the direction of the games.

I don’t know about years of content, but there are quite a few games with far more content than Infinite.

I think I’ve seen people saying that the game is a mess even on other sites like Reddit.

When a game runs out of players, matches can take a lot longer to find, and the developers might release updates less often if at all.

If it was fun and didn’t have problems, why wouldn’t it have a big playerbase?

It shouldn’t have been limited like it is in the first place, but it’s great they’re changing it.

The game’s playlists seemed to be designed around challenges.

Nowadays.
For the most part, they used to release with those core features.

Maybe this is the new trend players. Play a new release, realize its only half a game. Go back to older game with content because its been out longer until the other game has more.
