Is that really surprising? You guys put out this badass game and then the only ranked playlist you guys put out is an iteration of team hardcore. Nobody cares about this garbage battle pass system. Give us ranked Team Doubles, ranked Team Slayer, and ranked Team Objectives. All the people that are going to hop on this post saying “we dont need ranks” are the people who are going to play another month and move onto the next game any way. Give us a better ranked selection and watch your game shine
The playlists is only a smidge of the problems this game has. It literally needs an overhaul in just about every aspect of it.
343 really screwed up this time. Tbh, I wish this game would lose it’s entire player base so 343 higher ups/Microsoft can see how their dumb deliberate poor actions ruined Halo.
How’d you work that one out chief?
I’m on board with the idea you’ve put forth, but it’s not like JUST adding more ranked playlist will fix everything.
Not to mention I’m sure there are a significant chunk of people who are commited to halo who seldom touch ranked if at all, such as the Infection, action sack, forge, and custom games communities.
It will take some time to fix this Game, will players stick around who knows
There will be some that stick around, but from steam charts and other trackers we can see the game is in a steady decline. It hasn’t evened out yet, but time will tell soon I’m sure
Not sure if Destiny 2 is a good comparison based on how shady Bungie have been with Destiny but the thing is I’m not surprised that Infinite is losing over 40% of it’s population based on what 343i have done with the progression system and the lack of content or the underwhelming campaign.
Whether Infinite can recover from this remains to be seen but it certainly shows that 343i are not doing a good enough job to keep the player base. For 343i the last 30 days should have been the most important part of their game at launch and it’s that time of the year when people are mostly gaming before going back to work so it’s a bad sign that Halo Infinite is already in decline. Hell even MCC is getting an increase in population.
Also here’s a thought:
Halo Infinite population 150k peak on PC meanwhile Halo 3 at launch had 1+ million population within 24 hours. Not sure about the console numbers but it certainly shows that 343i are not aiming for a big title anymore.
well, they made their money with car ears… now they gonna go into limbo again 6 years. Just to release another messed up piece of -Yoink!-.
I won’t be sticking around if they don’t fix the store, the matchmaking issues, make BTB BR and add a casual slayer BR playlist.
I give them 1 month. Period. This is the third fumble, it’s time to swap players coach.
It’s mildly surprising to me, yet not completely unexpected in my opinion. While I like Infinite’s core gameplay, the atmosphere, and the music, It still only has 7 4v4 maps, 3 BTB maps (because no 4v4 maps can be played in BTB and vice-versa), minimal control over what mode you play (though the Slayer playlists help a lot), no long term progression outside of the Battle Pass (which I am almost done with without any additional tier skipping), and a very sparse roadmap of a couple of cosmetic events and unspecific times for Season 2 (Co-Op) and Season 3 (Forge). All of this is further hindered by bugs, desync, and the still busted BTB matchmaking (considerably hindering a relatively large chunk of the game’s already somewhat sparse content.
Although Halo Infinite is a smoother experience than many of its competitors such as Vanguard and especially BF2042, it still leaves me wanting more. I’ve since been going back to games such as Doom 2016, MCC, and other older, complete titles to tide me over. AAA games really need to start releasing in more polished states and ready to hit the ground running with roadmaps for their live service content.
The coincidental thing about the title of the post and how you ended the post is that the second major population drop off (first drop off being the day 1 drop off from 276k to ~170k, from which it kept steady) occurred the week the new modes and playlists were added in.
Now I’m not one to jump on the “correlation is causation” way of thinking, but a Ranked playlist overhaul is not going to save this title in the way you think. The other thing that occurred that week was the BTB crashfest, which is most likely the responsible factor, but it brings to light the major issue plaguing this title: the termites hiding in the walls, the bugs/glitches/coding issues. This game needs some deep tissue TLC and it needs it pronto. Without an optimization, quality of life and bug fix overhaul before anything else, this game’s population will continue to slowly crest off.
I think it’s more of since infinite is not optimized on pc most pc players are swapping to consoles that would explain pc numbers dropping
276k on PC for Infinite was the peak, that was Day 1 of beta. Honestly that’s a solid number, even the 125k-170k range over the next few weeks was pretty great too. A few times it actually displaced Apex, PUBG and Dota, that’s no small feat.
Halo 3 had a bit more than 1.1mil peak, with various pics putting it around that number give or take. However it was a different time, there were far less big ticket games on the market keeping game populations less spread out and far more condensed. Halo 3 was a fantastic title and one that deserved the hype and the success it achieved, but something interesting about it is that it sold over 3.3mil copies in 12 days and 8.1mil by 1/3/2008, but only maxed out at at a bit higher than 1.1mil players.
I would assume 343 aimed for a big title, but titles aren’t the same as they once were, and neither are game populations, even if done completely correctly.
The game can’t just keep swapping coaches.
Eventually it’s simply the franchise.
The game is good but feels dated.
Add the lack of content and issues and price gouging and this franchise simply shouldn’t ever be close to what it was.
No firefight
Abandoned warzone from 5
no co-op
no forge
no infection
single weapon starts in ranked
limited maps at launch again which seems to be microsoft go to strategy.
Game should have had new maps for the amount of people off work/school.
I like the game but every time i play i just feel so limited in everything. switching weapons is broken on pc also, this is the only game where my wheel on my mouse simply will not switch weapons.
That’s why I got mine binded to a mouse button.
I kind of want to play Destiny 2 again for the Halo event, even though I haven’t played it in years. Halo Infinite is just so scuffed and lacking content, I’m sick of it after 500+ matches, and I only play the daily log in bonus and grind out the Weekly Challenges on my day off if I actually want the item. I don’t consider myself a frequent player. It’ll be fine when Forge brings great custom games and remakes of Bungie maps. Until then, ugh… I’ll play for the event rewards because FOMO. Otherwise, it’s too buggy and unstable to tolerate. Infinite is a chore to play instead of being fun.
I advised for now there’s some issues with folks freezing and crashing
Please include ranked snipers as well. xD
hell they should of hired Epic games to build Forge. Just tell them this is what we want it to look like and go… They are better at building forge and maps stuff in less than a month.
It’s also messed up that the Bots have cross core customization,
While they locked us out of that feature and want us to re buy the same Coatings/ attachment for each item. Or attachment.
Look at Scarlet wake and how they sold that coating individually for one core next they sold it for the reach core than the Yoroi.
When the new Core drops they are gonna try and sell us the same attachments we already have but for that one.
They really thought we would t notice that.
I don’t have a dedicated team so I only play BTB which seems to feel fit considering I am on pc and used to big servers since you dont need to do the math like 24 devided by 4 is 6 xboxes. lol.
