There is a beautiful remake of both sanctuary and wizard with halo three assets in halo three that look amazing. 343 should start using these maps with permission from the moding community. Would be a easy way to add more diversity and DLC.
I think once they get mod support setup with steam workshop something like sharing and playing these maps won’t be so difficult. Maybe they can even work out a PC to console mod pipeline.
The coolest part is that the Steam workshop has two functionalities - mod support, and official game submissions. Both of these can operate side-by-side on the workshop page of a single game, done by both Hat in Time and Team Fortress 2 before. It can even have support for temporary solutions, like if 343 hosted a map making contest, something that Hat in Time took advantage of at several points prior. This would be a good way for consoles to benefit from mod tools, allowing submissions by users.
So does that mean that if someone makes a map and it’s received well for the most part by the community, that it could possibly end up in the matchmaking rotation for the appropriate game?
Console support, Steam Workshop, and limited online support for some mods would be a godsend. I’ve seen some incredible modded maps that remake maps from Halo CE/2 in the Halo 3 engine.

I know that some mods can be used online since they don’t alter gameplayer too much. Halo 4 Rescored - Audio Sound https://www.nexusmods.com/halothemasterchiefcollection/mods/1277
We need more online support for modded content. And also a way for mods to be downloadable for console players. I feel like Skyrim Special Edition can provide at least some inspiration.
