Halo Needs To Return To Its Competitive Roots

And this is coming from a casual-competitive gamer.

I forget who on here said it but:

You can make a competitive game casual, but you cannot make a casual game competitive.

That’s absolutely right. Last weekend (only time I can play) I set foot in the Arena for the very first time, having shunned it since release. And I loved it.

There IS a balance between Casual and Competitive. You can appease both crowds, 343. You just need to find it. Here’s hoping you do with Halo 4.

So when they were originally developing Halo: CE, Bungie all got into a meeting and said, “Right, let’s not develope a rich campaign and fun gameplay designed around 10 minutes of fun, let’s design it around highly competitive players who like to alienate other people that don’t agree with them who end up focusing our franchise around their main form of business that hasn’t even been invented yet”?

Also, I disagree with that comment about “You can make a competitive game casual, but you cannot make a casual game competitive”. If casual games can’t be competitive then what’s up with the Smash Bros tournaments?

> You can make a competitive game casual, but you cannot make a casual game competitive.

I believe I see is someone who does not understand what it means to be competitive.
May you please explain the existence of Black OPS and Super Smash Brothers in MLG?

Vetoed’s topic on catering to those that want to feel like they’re competing non-stop is an example of the opposite way of expressing what you want.

All I remember from Reach was Casuals and Competitives insulting each other and trying to take the game for themselves.

I would like for EVERYONE to enjoy Halo 4.

I would like for that to end, and for EVERYONE to enjoy Halo 4.
