I personally feel that Halo is failing and with each installment, things seem to be going wrong, of course according to fans. Personally my buddies video up top explains his opinions on the game so far but I agree with him a lot. To me I hope Halo can make a great comeback later but as of right now we need to figure what we can do to help 343 rather than argue back and forth on things we hate, we need to ban together to help a series we all love to not fall prey to the shadows of its competitors.
What do you guys think? What can be improved greatly that would keep people coming back?
The problem is Halo probably won’t ever become the console exclusive it used to be because the majority of the current generation of people who play games enjoy games because they are simple and easy to succeed at. Halo is one of the few FPS’s with a huge skill gap meaning that you have to put time, effort and practice into getting better and that’s something not many people today are willing to do because now, alot of people get enjoyment from quick easy success. Not hard earned success so unless Halo literally becomes a CoD clone, it won’t be as popular as it used to be not to mention at that point, it wouldn’t even be Halo.
While I don’t see halo ever being top dog again I don’t think mcc and h5s lack of variety is helping it keep a stable pop together. Mcc was a great idea but ultimately it was to much to handle due to many reasons. H5 should’ve been delayed to try and ship it with as much maps and playlists as possible rather than monthly updates. I don’t necessarily think it’s changing mechanics are the main reason why it’s failing but I see the state these games have launched in as the reason why. That’s just me though. I love h5 multiplayer wise (best since h3 imo) but the campaign is the worst in the franchise, and it lacks many things in execution. I believe 343 can do it but in the masses view they’re losing trust and support. Halo is a niche now so they need to lower their audience to halo fans rather than trying to pull in gamers from other franchises. This’ll help in developing the game to halo fans only rather than trying to add features that’ll get largest audience possible when in the end it’ll get them sales but it won’t sub stain the game in the long run.
Sure there’s lots of things 343 can improve but seriously…?
The multiplayer game-play is amazing and is the first halo since the originals that feels like halo again.
In this day and age, (sadly) nearly all games are released with lack of content and its implemented later on. Its a money thing.
Bottom line is, they’ve released a good playing game and we should look forward to more content/updates/fixes each month.
A smaller population is nothing to be concerned about. It was bound to happen, regardless of 343’s success or not.
What I find comfort in, is that 343 and Microsoft are both very supportive of the Halo franchise, and seem very enthusiastic and passionate about it. That, and the countless different Halo-related productions currently going on. While Halo may have a smaller fanbase, it’s much more lively than it used to be.

It would really help if 343 didn’t treat everything Bungie perfected in older games like it was toxic waste… Come to think of it 343 seems to slowly be getting rid of everything that Bungie had anything to do with…
I think all it needs is so more game types, which 343 is working on. I feel sorry for those who left already, but for us who stuck with it, we are gonna be rewarded soon by new game types among other things.

That’s … quite a large exaggeration.
The biggest problems with Halo 5 imo? There is tons of stuff for the top tier incredibly competitive players to enjoy, but there is a lack of casual, relaxed, “take your boots off” type content … outside of warzone and btb. Those are your only options for multiplayer if you don’t want to be in super serious game face mode. Oh, and Halo 5: Map making

Well actually he isnt exaggerating imo, simply because if you look at what 343 has given us, listed below of course.
Bungie: Gamemodes for everygame while keeping older gametypes. Armor customization to the fullest (Reach), a properly working ranking system that was enjoyable from the get go (1-50), armor that looked like real armor, great campaigns and interesting easter eggs. Overall a better playing experience with a working formula that everyone loved.
343: Removes gametypes and replaces them with some not so great and because of community outcry they decide to return legendary gamemodes, armor and armor customzation lacks and looks horrible compared to previous installments. Easter egg are somewhat interesting but campaign are lacking (though I did enjoy H4), Ranking system that doesnt work and isnt as enjoybable as previous installments were, changed the original formula of gameplay to make it more modern now so that it could run with the big boys when clearly it didnt need it.
Im not saying 343 is bad but honestly they could learn a thing or two by going back and looking at what Bungie gave us and build from that. The question is will they consider it ever?

I actually think g it’s an exaggeration myself. I honestly could care less who makes the game so long as I enjoy it. 343 has kept some of bungie work and even redid some of it to their likeness, it’s what new companies do, you can’t expect them to stick to the exact way their previous group did things. Example, mike Tomlin (nfl coach) took over a super boul team and throughout the years he’s changed his personnel how he wants it to be and he chooses what players to start and such. 343 is doing just that with halo, making it how they want but still keeping halo relevant. Fun fact: 343 was partly put together during halo reach’s development cuz they would be taking over once bungie left. So 343 started out actually working with bungie so they could have that understanding of halo (and it’s why I think some reach mechanics made it to h4, if bungie did it why not try to follow them). It’s debatable if that original 343 team is mainly intact after so many years however. What 343 did with h5 was bring back some of halos roots while still changing some things to their liking. I think halos main issue is a divided fan base, not how the games are being made (although launching broken or with missing content doesn’t help). You have people who like “new” halo and then those who prefer “old” halo. I think reach was the start of that divide and h4 just furthered it. So I think 343 just needs to find the game to appease both crowds or have a new ip (kind of hard to do tho if Microsoft wants them to only make halo games only and nothing else) to appease the others. They could even do spin offs as well to possibly achieve that.

The biggest problem with Halo 5 right now is the lack of playlists and game modes. It needs permanent playlists like the previous Halo’s had not a rotation of mediocre weekend games. The guy in the video whines too much about “tryhards”. That’s the dumbest word there is by the way. The idea of Halo is to win and you have to try to win.

The first 30 seconds of that video is purely opinion and him stating he isn’t good. I’ve loved all the Halo games and I’ve been good at the Majority of them. If I wasn’t good at them I wouldn’t like to play it, I can share that opinion but I cannot base if a game is good or not off of that.

It is lacking yes but as for the tryhards, not to some people, they ruin the experience for others who are less experienced than the better players. Halo 5’s population is low and because of it you will get matched according regardless of rank because of the population issues. He isn’t whining but stating his opinion, saying he is whining shows what kind of character you are. Either way I don’t care, but at the very least, have respect and respect other people opinions. Id say something else but its against the rules to point something out against other people here on the forums, so I will leave it at that.

If you didn’t watch the whole thing, he spends most of it whining about tryhards.

I stopped at 30 seconds in. I figured it might be all about that.

Ugh, seriously? And what kind of character am I, captain morality? I’m not going to respect an opinion that cries about people trying to win. That’s my opinion.
