Halo needs to EVOLVE

Halo needs to evolve or risk dying.

Star wars battlefront dropped ADS

Battlefield 1 said no thanks to “modern” movement mechanics and gave us an old school, boots on the ground, WW1 shooter to thunderous applause.

2 of the top 3 most played FPS games this year have no sprint. Add to that the critical darling Doom which kicks H5’s -Yoink- up and down the street when it comes to nailing an immersive super soldier experience.

COD’s strangle hold on this genre is ending and everyone sees it, except 343. H5 already feels 2 years behind the times. It has sprint in a game where most weapons have 1.5+ second average kill times. It’s so clunky.

It’s time to wake up John. This genre is changing again and Halo is behind the times.

Most games still have ADS and Sprint in them (Star Wars Battlefront doesn’t but was probably worse than Infinate Warfare will be). Battlefield 1 looks like BF4 but in WWI, meaning it’s not ditching anything but the modern Genre (It still has vaulting, ADS, Sprint, Stupidly low jump hight, parachuting).
While I agree that Halo 5 is a little outdated now, it wasn’t when it released and throughout the first half of this year. The game is nearly a year old in a time the FPS genre is going through a serious identity crisis. You can’t blame it for getting old fast. Most FPS game from last year have. So Yes Halo 6 will probably have a more boots on the ground gameplay and no Halo 5 can’t do much about it.

Exactly! This whole “every game needs sprint, advanced movement, and ADS because it is expected in modern shooters” trend is getting old, and I’m sure other FPS devs are starting to realize this. The only ones who don’t realize this are Respawn, who have built the formula of Titanfall around advanced movement mechanics from the get go, and the CoD developers who are constantly trying to continue the trend of CoD being the most popular shooter, so popularizing trends is something that they tend to do to stay ahead of the curb.

The point is that not all games now are following the trend of a semi-futuristic modern twitch shooter with advanced movement mechanics. Some games, like Doom and Overwatch are foregoing sprint and ADS in favor of a classic zoom system and faster base movement speed. Other games, like Battlefront, or Battlefield 1 are refusing to adapt to the advanced movement trend that was set by CoD: Advanced Warfare, Titanfall, and Destiny, and sticking with more basic movement, with the exception of sprint, prone, and possibly wall leaning. Battlefield 1 returning to the WW1 era instead of following in CoD’s footsteps of going into the future and adding stuff like wall running, ledge grabbing (clamber anyone?), and boost jumping (thrusters) is a sign that, even popular AAA shooters are starting to diversify instead of just follow what is popular and conform to it because potential sales to casual demographics.

Hi! I’m the massive sprint thread.

Well, to be fair, the thread isn’t specifically about sprint, just the modernization of Halo in general, such as the inclusion of advanced movement mechanics, sprint, and ADS.

God I hope the next halo follows the overwatch/doom/cs go way and not the titanfall/COD way.

Splitting hairs and there are threads ‘discussing’ each of those issues as well.

I don’t see you or anyone else complaining about the duplicate threads talking about the upcoming update or how broken Warzone Firefight and Theater mode are. Why complain about this one? If you really don’t like that this thread exists, just report and move on. No need to add to the thread and make a post that has nothing to do with the discussion at hand.

Sprint discussion goes in the sprint thread. I don’t take issues with threads existing, I just don’t see the point of knowingly breaking the norms of the forum. Also my first post was on topic, directing this to the appropriate venue as was my second answering you and now my third.

Update, WZFF, and Theater threads never seem to go on long enough to warrant being turned into the “official” thread. Only one that has is the WZFF Feedback thread, but 343 has unpinned that and the monitors don’t seem to care much about it. In addition to that, they didn’t seem to appear as often as sprint, splitscreen, and playable Elite threads.

My first reply to you was pointing out that this thread isn’t really a sprint thread, which it isn’t. The fact that it isn’t a sprint thread means that your post is kinda off topic, and thus not needed in the thread. The thread isn’t “breaking the norms of the forum” any more than all the duplicate threads about Warzone bugs, the next update, or the numerous “If _ was a boss…” threads. If you would rather the OP post this discussion in the sprint thread, that’s fine, but I don’t see why you have a problem with this thread considering, based on the name and the post itself, it isn’t a thread specifically dedicated to sprint, thus it wouldn’t necessarily need to be moved to the sprint thread.

So why is this thread a problem? It isn’t specifically linked to sprint, as it is discussing the modernization of Halo in general. I also don’t see this thread going on much longer then the aformenthioned Update, WZFF, and Theater threads, so why not just stop posting here and let the thread die instead of bumping it if you don’t see much point in it?

I disagree, but this is pointless going back and forth like this. Why don’t we just wait and see what happens instead of wasting time and energy? If the thread is still here in the morning I’ll dissect it properly, k?

At least we can agree on that.

2 of the top 3 fps’s of the year don’t have sprint? What games are you counting? Doom? That’s not even close to a top FPS of the year. Overwatch? No. It may be new and popular now, but it’s still not in the top 3 FPSs. The top 3 FPSs as of right now are BO3, Destiny, and Battlefield, all of which have sprint.

Lol, do you only play on console? Overwatch, CSGO, and BO3 are the top, Destiny and BF are nothing.

If you really don’t like that this thread exists, just report and move on. No need to add to the thread and make a post that has nothing to do with the discussion at hand.

Well that was pointless lol. You guys are now just clunking of this post.

OP I agree, these trends need to go. I don’t understand why 343 have changed the game so much that it doesn’t even seem like the orginal franchise we fell in love with.

That’s just my opinion tho

I agree halo doesn’t even feel futuristic in any way at all anymore. Maybe the first few halo’s were futuristic but now they seem so old school

I have zero interest in any of those games. You can have em. I’ll stick to Halo.

I do have a passing interest in Battlefront though. Not for the gameplay, the Star Wars part.
