It is no secret that Halo is not what it was before.
I see loads of people on youtube that used to constantly upload machinimas and montages and walkthroughs, but now they have moved away to “other games” (you know what I’m talking about). The online population (which I frankly don’t care that much about- campaign is where it should be) has dropped to the hundreds.
There are many reasons for that which can be debated in other forums. The main reason is obviously “other games”- but forget about that…
The million dollar question is how can 343i bring Halo back to its rightful might.
I think the only thing 343i can do at this point is give us the best yet least revealing marketing campaign Halo has had to date. I think trailers should pop up by February at the latest, and the flow of not-too-revealing information should stretch till release. If 343i get people to acknoledge their game and maybe even shove it down their throats with TV commercials and adds on drink and food packages and whatever, they could atract old Halo fans and newer gamers.
The second thing they need to do id make the game good and attracting, so that the commercials would make eveyone want the game. I think the commercials should go as far away from Reach as possible, just to help people that left forget what made them leave (there are a lot that left because of Reach from what I see in the forums).
I don’t know what else they can do. I just want Halo to be treated respectfully again…
Never going to happen with ridiculously easy games like cod running the multiplayer scene lol.
people dont want to invest into games anymore thanks to cod. all they want to do is get easy kills and play easy campy arcadey shooters lool. if 343i doesnt adapt these stupid elements into halo 4 then halo will never replace cod.
people will never want to actually practice and get good at a game. The hardcore gamers will. but the casual community FAR outweighs the hardcore.

I know that, but maybe some time in the future the hardcore CoD people will realize that they are buying the same damn game over and over again, and maybe Halo will be number 2. At least. Damn casuals… No offense.
If 343 Industries could make a Halo 4 that stops CoD from Getting the Best Selling Video Game Industry Next Year for the 4th Consecutive Year, than that’s how you know Halo is doing good.
Since Halo hasn’t had a “Good” release since Halo 3. Which was 4 Years ago… Call of Duty may have Broken records, but at the end of the Day, There is the Same Game that is still Best Selling Overall Haha
Halo 4 needs a genuinely great plot. I mean, look at the caliber of storyline games have today. Any half-decent film or book wipes the floor with the best of what gaming have to offer. If Halo 4 can change that… well, it’ll go down in history, let alone dominate gaming today.

Most of them know its the same game. THEY DONT CARE> the game is easy and they can feel good about their “Skills” in the game. MW3 sold BILLIONS faster than Avatar. That is utterly depressing.
I think 343 is going to keep a lot secret, I mainly believe this because they didn’t talk much about CEA honestly. There was a lot they didn’t talk about at all, and if they did it was very quickly and not a big broadcast.

But there was really nothing new about CEA other than the graphics, terminals, kinect, and multi-player maps. Halo 4 continues an amazing story of Halo 3 and opens up to a new ancient enemy that has yet to be discovered.

I bought CoD for 10 dollars or so and it wasn’t even worth the money. I need another Halo! I want to explore new places like in CE.

Here is what you dont get. It took only 6 days. 6 DAYS and a game that trashy and half -Yoinked!- makes that much money.

So what you saying is that Halo should be a game where barly anything is new, same crap we get everyday and be built with barly any time at all to develope a good story time and gameplay like Cod? Lol no

The “Real” question is, IF a “Halo fan” is really a “Halo Fan” why would they leave? I haven’t, so haven’t other people.
It’s either that YOU like Drama, or just like being a Hypocrite like everyone else.
The main reason why Halo ended up like it is, is because of the Community itself.
I personally loved Halo:Reach when it was released, I can’t say the same now with all the New Updates.
There’s always Doors of Opporunities, just don’t be blind.
Hence, Halo 3.
Lots of people love cod because it is “real” same goes for BF3 but i like the unreal feel of lasers and such, greater. And some don’t like that and that could be. If you really love the game you will stay with it. And halo is still in it, there are things that cod “stole” from halo such as daily and weekly challenges. And it really hard when halo is only for xbox . I like that its much more hard and i think it’s fine with the # we got sooooo if you love killing aliens than this is a game you want but if russians are on your -Yoink- list go play cod.but i am with halo all the way and really i dont know anyone who hates halo. it should be on top but it is fine now
I won’t deny that there is a chance that Halo could return to the top, I will just say that it is very, very unlikely. Those who were around for the release of Halo 3 remember just how big of a deal it was.
Don’t get me wrong, Reach was certainly a big deal as well but it was shadowed by the release and anticipation for other games.
Halo should return to it’s roots of Halo CE - 3. Those games are what made it great through the core gameplay. You’re right that Call of Duty holds the top spot for being an easy to play and casual game.
But if without losers, as it were, there are no winners, and no game would ever be worthy of resources or time if it was thought it wouldn’t reach #1. Halo is still a big name. It can return to being great if the gameplay returns to how it was in Halo CE-3. It will be played because it is different to the Call of Duty franchise in general. It won’t matter that it’s not at the top.
I don’t know if that last paragraph made much sense but here’s what I’m trying to say. Halo will be more successful returning to how it was before Reach than if it tries to turn casual and poach the Call of Duty gamers from their favourite franchise.

When did i ever say that at all? if you actually read the posts you would see thats not what i want at all. I want halo to stay unique.
People seem to be forgetting that if we compare x360 sales only, not a single CoD game has beaten Halo 3. Comparing all platforms is just unfair. I think we just need to go back to the day when halo was a fun and good game, and not a crappy unbalanced mess (I’m looking at YOU Reach).
