I recently noted that Credits for challenges and weekly needed to be lowered, but who am i do change anything if change isn’t accepted. Many times i have stated why but i’m ignored. But i bring you hard evidence that proves why.
If you paste this link you will go to my fileshare, where you will see why these credits are bad. [feel free to look around]

(You couldn’t hear the audio but most of these boosters where vulgar and trying to intimidate me)
How do the ranks of others affect you?
I thinkt he credit system, is one of the better ideas bungie ever had. I am not saying it should replace ranking, I feel there should be an entirly seperate thing for that all together (while still letting us keep our credit rank) but credits are awesome. They are the single biggest reason I play almost every day. I still have armor to unlock, and credits are a nice way to do it, play a game get credits buy a new helmet. It’s not based (to much anyway) on skill, just an accumulated exp grind to unlock stuff. Once again, I dont think it works solo, would be nice if there was a a few things (like maybe the katana) that you needed to do something good to get, but the idea of credits in an of it self is awesome.
Now complaining about cheaters, cheating to get stuff. I don’t see why it bothers you. If you mod it you can get everything, and things like game genie have always been around. People who use those things are only hurtning themselves. When I use a cheat code it usualy leads to me not playing anymore because I have done everything. If some people like the end result, who cares let them have there fun, they will be playing Cod 14 tomarrow and wont be here anymore. Me? I like the journey, its great.
> How do the ranks of others affect you?
That is by far, the most idiotic statement ever. The whole concept of any ranking system is a comparison of one’s self… to others. Everyone’s rank matters to everyone else, otherwise nobody would care about stats or whether Reach uses a credit based ranking system, a “1-50” ranking system, or some other form of ranking system.
While you may or may not agree with the current ranking system. It does provide everyone a rank. A rank determined by how much time is spent actually playing the game. If someone sits in a game and doesn’t play, but still earns credits… then they haven’t rightfully earned those credits that you are paid to complete a game. It’s the equivalent of someone in the 1-50 ranking system getting a 50 by sitting in games filled with player’s inactive guests.
The whole point of matchmaking and ranking is to compare yourself to others, so please… stop posting like an uneducated idiot spamming up the forum saying the same thing you heard someone else say because it sounded good to you. The first person that said it sounded like a moron and that just makes you a bigger moron for repeating what he said.

A ranking system like the cR one we have is meaningless. You cannot compare any one rank to another because it has nothing to do with skill. You cannot get a 50 by sitting in with guest. WTF are you talking about?
The cR system is the most worthless dumb ranking system ever. And nobody should care about who has what rank because it was not earned with skill.

Says the Noble with almost 1800 games of firefight.
I say that there should be 2 seperate ranking systems, one for people with no skill and people with no interest in getting better, and another for the people that have skill and interested in getting better (by nature, if you’re good at something you just want to get better).
For Halo 4 when it releases but for Reach: Arena ranks should be visible in every playlist.
But seriously OP, the way people play the game (in this case cR boosting) shouldn’t bother you, becasue you’ll some day reach that rank anywa. But if it would be like Halo 3 were people in your team were deranking to boost some noob later on - that would be a serious problem, becasue they are ruining your changes of ranking up.
Ignore (or in some cases MUTE) those noobs that boost cR and then enjoy the game by playing it the way you want.

A 1-50 ranking system is just as meaningless and worthless. A good number of 50’s got there by sitting in games with their legit 50 friends and didn’t earn it on their own. So don’t even try to pretend that those players “earned it with skill”. They earned it by riding on the coattails of others… just like the people idling in games on Reach.

What does my rank have to do with this? You know why I play firefight? Because quitters don’t affect my game as much there. I bought Reach after playing the Beta for Invasion. If you got stuck with a quitter as your partner as much as I did, you’d understand where I’m coming from… nothing worse than having to start from the starting spawn every time.
I don’t play to statwhore, or act like I’m better than someone else, I play for the win… no matter what the cost. If I have to act like a meatshield so my teammate can get the win, then so be it. People have different motivations and methods of playing. Just because you don’t agree with the system in place doesn’t mean that it doesn’t matter to everyone.

so 1-50 is worthless but cR is not. ok.
One of them you have to win games, the other you don’t.
Which one is meaningless again???

Maybe you don’t play as much as me but you get tired when you have to carry a team full of idiots because they think their superior to you. They sit around AFC or maybe they betray you just because they feel like it. A Bungie employee once said, “We want to make a game that we enjoy playing”. This isn’t that road, and will never be.

Cr boosting affects me, IDK about you but it bothers me. [download and watch my video] Having AFK people on your team isn’t fun at all, having people boost full lobbies isn’t fun, Having a BK Randy who betrays you because he has a lobby full of boosters ISN"T FUN.
> A 1-50 ranking system is just as meaningless and worthless.
I never said one is better than the other. They are both meaningless because you can cheat both systems… and like I said before. You don’t have to win games in a 1-50… you can just sit in games with great players and boost. Just like in the cR system you don’t have to complete games, you can sit in games and boost.
dont worry man, rank =/= skill. period. Ive been stomped by 3.0kdr generals, and Ive stomped negative inheritors, that have never played arena with 106000 deaths.
At the end of the day, I only glance at kdr in social, and arena ranking. If k/d is high and they dont have onyx: 9/10 theyre bad.
I like both the arena and 1-50, because it gives a good approximation of skill level and experience. I just hope 343 puts your rating next to your name so I dont have to dig in your service record to get it.
cR is meaningless regardless. When earned a 50 means something especially to the individual that worked on getting better. So you say the whole ranking system means nothing because you saw some people getting carried. I say you misunderstand the point. It is about challenging yourself. With the cR system its about developing blood clots and killing grunts.
People can get carried to a 50 that’s true. But they did not earn it. So I doubt they felt any satisfaction in getting it. Furthermore calling the 1-50 meaningless is an obvious tactic to minimize the butthurt one feels with their inability to get said 50
> People can get carried to a 50 that’s true. But they did not earn it.
… and that is the exact point the OP is trying to make. It only took you ranting and crying about your broken ranking system to finally get the OP’s point. If you weren’t so busy with your 1-50 and blindly spamming up the thread because you saw the words “credit system”, maybe you’d read and comprehend the whole point of the thread.
> Furthermore calling the 1-50 meaningless is an obvious tactic to minimize the butthurt one feels with their inability to get said 50
Are you trying to take a poke at me? I’m not a tryhard that thinks video game rank means anything. Hell, I barely played enough total matchmaking games in Halo 3 to even qualify for a 50. I spent more time in Forge than matchmaking, so I don’t know how I can be butthurt when I never even made an effort.
Nice try though, Shrek. Time to crawl back to your bog.

9/10 people don’t know what they’re talking about… I have a friend who has Onyx in arena yet i have no rank and i’m better at him. No playlist shows skill, unless you go MLG with high ranks or pros.
rank dont mean -Yoink- in halo reach
high ranks suck 90% of the time

I guess that makes you one of them.
btw, your bpr isnt even 100: http://halo.xbox.com/en-us/stats?gamertag=SN068237264910&x=0&y=0
If you got rated in arena you might get silver,
sorry to be a bit of a “yoinker” but its true. Ive been playing for quite a while and made 20% onyx last season. I know what im talking about.

He was making the generalization that players that could not get a 50 were/are the biggest haters.
“I never made an effort” is what all kids say, lol.
This thread was indeed about credits but you did say that the cR system is just as meaningless as 1-50 and that is simply not true. If you saw a 50 you new he could be good. COULD BE. But if you saw a staff captain you for a fact new he sucked.
Now with the cR system yoy have no idea what good is. This is the flaw in your argument.
I agree that we need a better ranking system.
But I want to make it perfectly clear.
I love the credit system, how it works, and whats it’s for. You basicaly get exp per fight to save up and buy armor. Stuff that has no bearing on the game whatsoever, it just lets you customize. Please do not get rid if the cR system. Just add a real ranking system. Everyone is hating on cR for not being 1-50 or whatever, but I don’t think it needs to be, and I don’ mthink we need to change it to make it a real ranking system. Leave it alone and build a real ranking system next to it.
