Halo needs no BR

Halo needs some new big game mode. Whether that’s warzone or some modified version of a BR with a halo spin on it. Just because forge can make a BR does not make it marketable to players that don’t normally play halo. Only the Halo community will know it exists. The goal is to get more players that don’t already play Halo to do so and a big mode custom made by 343 and certain affinity can be marketed and sold almost as a relaunch for Halo. The gaming landscape has changed since Halo’s peak. There is way more options for people to get their fps fix and like it or not BRs are not a fad. They will be sticking around and continuing to grow for the foreseeable furture.

Either my reading comprehension is a mess recently, or these two posts replying to me don’t make sense. Could you elaborate again?

Kinda agree with ya here, it’ll be popular then hated / loved just like COD/Fortnite/Apex is

What are ya thinking of Last Spartan Standing if ya have dived in it already? Think a break off from that will be just right? Or does it itch your need for it

If they do they better use that old school Halo 1 health pack look oh the nostalgia

I freaking love these guys ^^

Honestly if they would make last Spartan standing better and bigger I could consider that halos battle royale. Truthfully I love the game mode and I hope it stays. It needs fixing but I love it.

The only problem with LSS is the spawns. Im constantly spawining in range of 50 feeet (Footsteps in game) of someone. Its pretty hard too when there are 3 to 5 people getting you and only you.

I like the idea but the players per match should be lowered or they should be playable on bigger maps.

Bigger maps, better spawns, spawn with pistol only. normal weapons randomized around the map. Then drop pod special weapons, overshields, camo, etc. Make it timed to 10/15 minute max. Then either make the danger zone acceleration quick or make it if you stand in a 10 foot radius longer than 15 seconds you get kicked. Boom halos battle royale in a nutshell. Not sure about 5 lives but why not.

If you wanted vehicles involved there would have to be tweaking done to my rules above.

So technically I disagree, a Halo battle royale could work just fine, just tweak the LSS rules and maps.

absolutely not, Halo runs better with BR start.

I found it to be a fun game type. I don’t think it really scratches that itch for a large well-developed game mode though. I do think elements of the game mode could be interesting in a Halo BR though like earning points to level up load-outs and having a pool of lives for your team. In my mind it needs to be big enough to dissociate itself from multiplayer on the menu. So we would have on the main menu:

Campaign
Multiplayer
Forge
Halo BR
etc…

Yeah, and that’s one of Infinite’s strong points. Now they want to undo that.

And then leave again, which will have achieved exactly nothing. Also the chances of the game being properly fixed before BR release are close to (priority) 0.

Besides the point, it still won’t be more than a gimmick. Games dedicated to this formula will always be better at it, unless they actually invest enough effort to actually build a full standalone Halo themed battle royale game. Press X to doubt.

You’re missing the point. I know they are not developing it in-house, but that doesn’t mean it’s not consuming resources. CA isn’t a charity, they’re not doing this out of the kindness of their hearts. 343 is paying them to do it, in other words they are spending resources on it. Resources that could’ve gone to other things that would actually improve the game.

Also, H2A multiplayer is god-aweful (try to find a game in the MCC playlist lol), and the H:R map pack was just a bunch of revamped old maps. So not exactly brimming with confidence in CA here.

That’s why they allow you to play Halo Combat Evolved on the Master Chief Collection! Enjoy!

To be fair I think Halo has actually had some semblance of “battle royale” since Halo 2 I think. 1 life modes existed in the older Halo games for sure, and 1 life btb is basically battle royale.

While I do think a Battle Royale set in the Halo universe could work (in the same way that something like Metal Gear Rising Revengance could work), the current bones of what Halo Infinite is will not work without serious retuning of existing weapons and mechanics. This is why I scratch my head whenever someone says “Oh, but the base of this game would be great for it!”

The traditional Battle Royale has a loot system that allows the interchangeability of existing attachments mixed with a wide variety of weapons with similar but not the exact same functionality. Halo doesn’t have that. Halo has Sniper Rifles that have perfect, zero-drop accuracy over extremely long ranges, Rockets that fly slowly and kill instantly, a Regenerating Shield and Health system. What Halo Infinite is now is not comparable to the average Battle Royale. Halo Infinite is an Arena Shooter. Simply copying the mechanics of an Arena Shooter (especially one such as this with serious hit reg and desync issues) isn’t going to create an engaging Battle Royale. From what I also know of Halo 4, 343 is not as experimentative as to go away from what the big boys are currently doing, and the existing most familiar Battle Royale that’s out right now would be mostly copied into Halo Infinite in an attempt to eat market share.

The Battle Royale people are asking for beyond what we currently have is so radically different from what Halo Infinite is, that 343 would need to devote a significant amount of man power to make it functional - in my opinion, this would be a gross misallocation of vital resources that are needed to fix the core issues with Halo Infinite, some issues that have existed since the early Flights, and others that need to be fixed for the long-term health of the game.

Maybe next time, 343, if Fortnite hasn’t absorbed all of us into its amorphous mass.

Do you work at 343? I know they are desperate for new hires, but are they hiring people who don’t like Halo again? Anyways, if the game is fixed, I see no reason why people wouldn’t stay.

Based on the new Last Spartan Standing mode, I’d imagine it will be like that. 5 lives either between the team or between each player. If you’ve tried the new mode, assuming that you haven’t left since it seems you’ve lost all faith, it is a very good representation of what I’d want to see in a BR.

Did you forget who owns 343? Xbox. And who owns Xbox? Microsoft. I’m not sayinng the budget is unlimited here, but they aren’t going to be making a Master Chief OnlyFans.
As for H2A and the Halo: Reach anniversary pack, most of MCC is dead outside of Reach, 3, and 4. I can’t even find a BTB game. So, I think that is probably why it’s dead., Everyone is split between 3 games (Infinite, MCC, and 5). H2A, from the few times I tried it in BTB, was a good game. I enjoyed playing it, and it seems others agree with me. If you really want a dead game play Halo 2 or CE on MCC. Even those games (Halo 2 being some people’s favorite) are relatively empty.

Also, just for everyone not just @CHAOS_Pyro_NL, Halo does NOT need a BR, but the game will do excellent with one included.

No, would be a bit weird for me to call my employer this incompetent on their own forums lol. And no I don’t like Halo, I love it.

So…you agree with me? Then why make all this text.

O Right, that’s why.

Yeah, Xbox Games Studios has 15 subsidiaries. Microsoft has well over a 100.

Now they have a lot of money, sure. IIRC they had about 500 million $ to make Infinite…and look at the output. The problem 343 has is not resource availability, but allocation. But hey:

H2A MP was dead long before that, but hey:

Considering the S2 launch barely did anything to player numbers (and we’re back to S1 numbers already), the chances of the game doing excellent in general are quite low, and a battle royale gimmick will do exactly nothing to improve that.

I don’t think this has been confirmed.

Unless you want a BR, you must not have read anything there.

Season 2 has still been riddled with bugs and desync. I those are fixed before the BR comes out (don’t even try to say “sO sEaSON 8???”), a lot of people will want to see this new BR, especially if they played Halo 3.
