Halo needs BR’s, lots of Battle Rifles.

Adding Battle Royale as a main mode will kill the franchise. Persistent fanbase will hate it, short influx of kids from the other battle royale game we’re not allowed to name, then they will get bored again and leave, net result loss of even more players.

Again?

I’m sure we all agree we don’t need a Fortnite clone.

But we know that the Halo works well with limited lives and/or a shrinking zone.

343 have been prepping us for what’s coming. First with Attrition, and now with Last Man Standing.

And if anyone can pull it off, it’s Certain Affinity.

Looking forward to what they come up with.

Just because it doesn’t need it, doesn’t mean it wouldn’t work. Halo’s sandbox would play very, very well as a BR. The only issue is 343i’s history of overdesigning things.

All it needs is selectable spawn points, and randomly distributed weapons, equipment, and vehicles. I’m worried they will try to emulate too many BR tropes and we will see things like skydiving, inventory screens, shield and health pickups instead of regenerating, rarity tiered loot and such.

Halo gametypes are better left as simple and straight forwards. The less pointless cutscenes and dialogue, or gameplay elements you can’t find elsewhere in the game the better (I’m looking straight at you Halo 5 Warzone)

I really don’t understand why a science fiction based world/story line has any bullet based guns at all. This is supposed to far in the future, explosively fired projectiles are so déclassé.

BR clone which every other BR plays off on : no
BR pioneer, expanding the game mode : yes

And how do you know this? For all we know, a BR could be the savior of this franchise. While I personally think that the game’s issues should be prioritized, rather than a BR, the game is (supposedly) getting a lot of fixes in Season 2.

A BR foes not belong in Halo and should never be in it. With forge by itself the franchise will be saved.
I know people want a BR but guess what? FORGE CAN MAKE A BR.

I belive this is not true and will not happen, if it does’nt I will be happy. "There are 5 halo games and 2000 of their games. P### poor odds… for them.

He was clearly referring to Beam Rifles.

Actually where are those?

As someone who has never played a BR before, I’m excited for it. I think that this is the first positive step in the right direction towards reaching that “broader audience”. It really needs to hit hard right out of the gate in order to pull in players who have already comfortably settled into their BR(s) of choice.

Ok maybe in a dlc or spinoff game, but not in infinite. It would either A: take the entire frachise and turn it to a battle royal leaving arena behind, (along with the fanbase) or B fail and put the franchise down.

Could you reprhase this? I can’t make any sense of it.

The persistent fanbase not likeing call-of-halo is pretty obvious from the response to Halo 4.

The new players it brings in leaving again rather quickly is also obvious, since it will just be a gimmick. Games that have committed to (CoD) or are build around the battle royale platform have way more content focused on that mode. Those players that like this sad excuse for a game mode might try the new “Halo Battle Royale thing” for a bit, but then they will just go back to their original game…since they invested time in that game, and those games are dedicated to it rather than it just being a gimmick.

Also, 343 can’t even deliver a complete game if they have years. Their not adding a fully-fledged battle royale mode, it’ll just be FFA with 0 respawns and pumped up player count.

How anyone thinks Infinite adding battle royale as an afterthought would in any way be able to compete with Warzone is beyond me…but it does explain a lot. 343 is wasting resources for no reason.

Infinite has been the closest game 343I has made to the Bungie era of Halo. Halo 4 is well known for just being a COD knockoff.

But, when Halo launched we saw a large amount of players pop in to see what it was. I have a feeling that if the game is properly fixed before the BR releases (which seems likely since it will probably arrive in Season three), then some of the people who popped in to check it out will come to check out this big new mode.

I’d imagine they are going to either A) reuse the Attrition system for team matches (which isn’t the same as FFA) or B) add some kind of respawn mechanic similar to Apex Legends or Fortnite. I would want to see option A added since it would mean that any encounter could have a full team.

Also, 343I isn’t even developing the Battle Royale, Certain Affinity is. They were responsible for (according to Halopedia) the Halo: Reach anniversary map pack, Halo 4’s forge system, and Halo 2: Anniversary’s multiplayer. So, if you want an idea for whether the game will play nicely, go play some Halo: Reach and Halo 2:A.

Those were in the first Halo. Infact, it’d be a good thing.

Health pickups were. And it wouldn’t be too bad to re-include them, but I wouldn’t say it’s a good thing, if they come back they should be used across the entire game though.

It’s mainly carrying stuff around in an inventory, and shields requiring an item to charge instead of just regenerating normally I don’t want to see. Extra fluff other than the basic necessities that make it a gametype.

Halo quote rephrased for all the halo games vs the brs and everything else. Point is nothing will be as revolutionary and “game changing” as halo. If the game gets fixed then it will stay that way, obliterating everything else.

I will never play the battle royale, this kind of game modes is horrible and it’s killing taditional FPS games

This game just needs something big and something new. Is that a Battle Royale? Maybe. It doesn’t have to be, but anything would help at this point. This game needs content about six months ago.
