I’m sure most forum users can agree that Halo 4 was heavily geared to the casual fan-base while Halo 5 is heavily geared to the competitive fan-base. (For the most part, I.e. abilities and warzone.)
I believe the selection of playlists, hidden rank system and party size limits contribute to the issue of “sweaty tryhards” in every playlist. Of course you don’t want to stretch out the population by having way too many playlists.
So I propose this for Halo 6:
Social:
Max party size of 3, except in Special Events, Infection, Grifball. Still debating about BTB. No ranks, no quit penalties, JIP available. Assault/Magnum starts.
*-*Social Slayer (5v5)
-Social Objective (5v5) (KoTH, Assault, CTF, Oddball)
-Big Team Battle (8v8) (Slayer, CTF, Heavies)
-Infection
-Grifball
-Weekly/Special Events! (Snipers, multi-team, Action Sack, etc.)
Competitive:
No party size restrictions. Ranking system, quit penalties, no JIP. Battle Rifle/Assault Rifle starts.
*-*Team Arena (4v4) (Slayer, Assault, CTF)
-Doubles (2v2) (Slayer, Oddball)
-Lone Wolves (6 total) (Slayer, KoTH, Oddball)
Thoughts?
Happy Thanksgiving!
Yes, however team objective shouldn’t be ranked anyway so why split it into social and ranked? infection and grifball should be their own playlists. Agree with the rest. Also FFA should be ranked
Why party size restrictions for social? What if me and 4 buddies just want to goof around?
Halo 4 and reach were more casual while H5 is primarily competitive. However the abilities take the skill out in my opinion.

Should it be Team Arena in competitive? (Slayer+obj?)
I just didn’t wanna split the population too much.
Maybe remove FFA from social and add Lone Wolves to ranked?

Because nobody likes facing stacked teams when they are just trying to relax.
Why exactly can’t we have universally party based matchmaking across all playlists?

In a perfect world I agree, parties SHOULD match parties.
Unfortunately it never works out that way
i dont think social has to be restricted, if it is social and only for fun, there should be from few to non rules.
for competitive agree with JIP sometimes messup a game.
I don’t know, but BR/AR starts sound a bit more casual than competitive to me…
