Instant gib on melee, with the range of an assault rifle? No thanks, bayonets aren’t necessarily something that’ll balance out gameplay. It seems like a promising idea though.

OT: CoD ballistic knife? 
Isn’t that pretty much every Brute weapon? Nearly all their weapons had blades on it, I think all but the red plasma rifle.
It really doesn’t.
if you want that go play cod, why do people suggest stuff that obviously wouldn’t work/fit in with halo

Take it from a guy who has be trained by the military to use a bayonet, tho it’s fun in games, it’s 100% pointless in real life, no soldier these days is going to take the time to stick a knife on their barrel just so they can stab people, if I was going to run out of ammo, and there was a guy coming at me, I’m more likely to take my hot barrel and put it through the guy’s skull, than take the time to put a knife on my rifle.
A weapon with a bayonet on the end is an okay idea, just for increased melee damage but no… we don’t need a “sword gun” in Halo. This isn’t Gears of War or something, if they make a gun that’s got a one-hit melee weapon attached to it, the range and damage of that gun had better be weak as hell.
What’s next, a Fuel rod cannon with a gravity hammer on the back end?

so basicly the cqb power of a sword combined with the mid range of a br/dmr, sounds kinda over powered
Yes, let’s assume he means a sniper rifle with an energy sword on it, and then relate this to CoD.
