I don’t think they should add it right now. Not because of principle but because of priority. Let them finish forge and campaign first. Then we can talk about BR.
People play games for different reasons and the creativity of forge will fit a lot of people’s more creative interests. Yeah there’s interest in BR but shoving it in right now is like ordering a pizza because your burger hasn’t been served yet.
Let’s not worry about whether it fits for this game right now. Ive never said that it was an unfinished game here because I was just happy to get anything at this point and people pile on when it’s brought up. However, it’s unfinished. Maybe in a year when we actually have the product they intend to deliver we can start to discuss how it fits.
I really like the ODST drop idea, having some sort of cutcene being shot out of a frigget. I’m sure they could add customization options to the pod and falling effects like fire or BLUE FIRE!
I’m hoping that once Forge is added to the game that we’ll get some sort of community map playlists. I’m sure that the HCS map playlist/ rotation will expand some.
A BR is not another game mode for developers. It’s a different beast in server and code management. There’s a give and take between customization, player count, graphics, frame rate, etc. It’s not just using a big map and adding 100 initial spawn points.
I’m not saying it can’t be done or shouldn’t be done. I’m simply saying that the discussion of whether it’s a good idea for the Halo community should barely be on the devs radar because it’s a serious undertaking. If they haven’t even finished forge they shouldn’t be dedicating resources to novel takes on the BR formula with Halo.
