A battle royale is what made Fortnite into a game that is regarded by the majority of the world over as a cringe game instead of the PvE Zombie Survival shooter it was supposed to mainly be.
And besides, Halo fans aren’t the type to enjoy single-life games. The mindset of Halo is Run, Scavenge, Kill, Die, Respawn, Repeat.
A Halo Battle Royale would easily be Run, Scavenge, Kill, Die, & Ragequit.
EDIT -
The closest thing Halo would be getting to a Battle Royale is the Gladiator custom game.
I’m no longer opposed to the idea of a Battle Royale mode, but if people are that desperate for one right now then they can just create their own in Custom Games. The Forge canvas maps are plenty big enough.
BR’s are a sign the company has no original ideas and wants to make a quick buck. BR is added and lots of players would walk out the door. BR wouldn’t fit Halo’s Sandbox. Not every game needs a BR mode. Go back to Fortnite zoomer.
Still gonna disagree. BR’s are the new Zombie games (if you even remember that era). I’m sick to death of BR’s on every game. THEY PUT A BR IN MY DRIVING GAME FOR GOD SAKE!
343 could easily try something new and pull out a bloody big win.
No, it does not need a battle royal. Not every damn shooter needs to have this stupid mode. Go play warzone or fortnite, we don’t need that garbage in Halo.
I don’t think that would happen. It would just be something that would add value to the game and allow us to experience Halo in a new way. It would certainly allow for better themed events that wouldn’t affect the core arena gameplay. I don’t see it being treated any different than any other alternative mode, and would give them more of a reason to use the campaign map they spent so much time on.
as someone who is… very against the idea… honestly, i would accept it, IF, and only if… it was unique. and not a copy/paste of every other BR. something to make halo different from all the others… but that would require 343 put time and actual effort, and they clearly can’t do that xd
as a side note… 343 will make a BR mode for the game either way. think about it… they have this giant open world halo ring, so why waste it on just the campaign? and now because of attrition, they have the code to revive teamates… as well, given the technicality lies of 343, i really don’t believe them when they said
‘the only BR we’re interested in is the battle rifle’ - 343 tweet i THINK
So, Halo didn’t take arena shooter from Doom and Quake, and firefight from zombies but Ok… Having options in a game are good, and Halo could use Zeta Halo as the perfect, consistent with IP BR. It’s ok if you want to ride a tricycle, just don’t be mad about the people who want to drive a monster truck.
Zeta Halo from the campaign, with Halo Infinite’s sandbox available for looting, would probably be one of the greatest BR maps of all time tbh.
I’m really hoping we get a BR or Escape from Tarkov sort of mode. I imagine something like the ODST Mombasa Streets gameplay, but with a PVP element involved
Naw, Wouldn’t touch it in a million (ten?) years. The “massive” competitive chaos people want out of halo is something that an in-depth customs or Firefight/H5:warzone mode could achieve and that stuff has since been addressed as “whats to come.”
I don’t get why people keep jumping the shark on this RattleBoyal garbage when we dont even have forge or co-op. Stuff that was already announced ahead of time as getting a protracted development.
A BR is less of a game mode and more of an entirely separate gameplay experience similar to that of Firefight, Spartan Ops, or Warzone. It requires it own specific mechanics, scripting, maps, and infrastructure working in tandem to perform correctly.
Modes like permanent attrition, infection, KotH, racing, assault, breakout, or invasion is what I was referring to. They’re missing as is, have been addressed by the community as necessary for adequate gameplay, and compared to a BR (which looking at the way the campaign runs, would be a mess and a half to try and put together) would be simpler to add without taking up too many resources.
I’m one of the OG Halo fans, and I would totally welcome a Battle Royale mode in like a year or so. There are so many other things that need to be fixed first, but eventually I could see this breathe fresh air into the game. I would absolutely not be surprised if they (or a sub-contracted studio) are already working on it to roll out when the proper infrastructure is in place.
The big question is, how many players would you like to see in this Battle Royale mode? 4v4 is shaky as-is, and it took 3 months for them to get 24 players on one server to kind of work right. 100 would be a nightmare on the current infrastructure of the game.
I really don’t understand the “Halo doesn’t need a BR, go play Fortnite, kid!” crowd. If Battle Royale isn’t your cup of tea, cool, don’t play it then. No need to Hulk out about it though Industries evolve, and video games are no different. I equate this line of thinking to your grandpa who still has a flip phone yelling things like, “Why do I need a calculator on my phone? I’ve got a perfectly good calculator right here on my desk! Go play with your fancy iPhone, kid!”
