I really like Halo. Been a fan for a while. What drew me to Halo the most was the story. I week never say that more Halo lore is a bad thing but it almost seems that the story has grown so big that is hard to keep all the threads straight.
my question is for those who have Halo Mythos and are big more fans. How well of a job does it do to pull all of Halo’s story threads together? Do you find that it helps make sense of the over all history and stories told in Halo this far?
I think it does a decent job of condensing all of the events in the Halo universe into a single book. The additional illustrations also help.
Firstly, it does not contain literally every story in the Halo setting; it is every story that is relevant to the galactic scale, plus a couple novels that are almost as relevant as that. Plenty of smaller stories are absent. Just as a warning, y’know. You don’t wanna go into it expecting to come out super knowledgeable and then get flummoxed by people talking about Midnight on the Midlothian.
Secondly… yeah, I think it helps. It puts everything in story order, which helps get a sense of the continuity of all of the events. Further, it gives us additional small clarifying details here and there, usually in the use of alternate terms to explain the same event. I personally did not have an issue keeping the order of things in my head, but for those that do I bet this is invaluable.
Thirdly, the art is very solid. It is great to see depictions of Maethrillian, of the Timeless One, even just of stuff we’ve seen before like Alpha Halo. I personally enjoy a good art, so for me this is a selling point.
