Halo: Multiplayer Testing Position

http://www.halocouncil.com/2013/06/22/halo-multiplayer-testing-position/

Please, those who are experienced with past Halo games, apply for this job. We need to bring back Halo.

343i, please hire people who are experienced with the competitive aspects of Halo. Do not hire casual players. Also, do not hire people who hate the Halo Franchise…

As a counter point.

Frankly, please hire people that do play casual - whom are the 370,000 who stopped playing the game due to horrific multiplayer lag and other issues. The remaining Halo 4 players (all 30,000 of them) are your competitive players and don’t have the issues that 90% of us had.

Please do not hire FanBoys whom love the game to excess. They need to be objective because H4 is just broken for multiplayer.

Laslty, PLEASE TEST OVER THE INTERNET AT REMOTE LOCATIONS, not on your intranet. Had they done this, they would have found and fixed the Lag / Host / Regional issues before the game was released.

And before I’m branded a Halo hater, I have all the Halo First Person shooters up on my game shelf and have played them all.

But due to the bad Lag and other multiplayer issues, I have switched to Halo Reach for my Halo fix. Loved H4 Campaign and enjoyed Spartan ops - but War Games multiplayer and co-op are just broken OVER THE INTERNET.

Before suggesting it’s a me / connection issue, read these:

which explain what’s wrong with multi player and why it’s H4 not me.

You need a mix of both, I hated 2 and 3 because it felt to competitive and liked Reach and 4 because it appealed more to me

By the looks of it Ghostayme is going to get it. He does deserve the job. He almost single handily brought back 5k players with his settings.

Ghost applied? If so, I hope he gets hired on the spot.

Halo was designed to be a competitive game though.

Well that isn’t their only audience, they need to appeal to both sides

343i created Halo 4 as a casual game…There’s no true competitive aspects in Halo 4.

Halo 3 was competitive, but it had social gametypes. Halo was designed to be a competitive game, period.

We need mostly competitive players though Casuals need to be in as well just a good balance of both sides.

I really don’t want an easy kill-fest like I’m having on Halo 4 so it needs to be more competitive for my taste and I don’t want it to be incredibly difficult to face others of higher skill. 343 really set the Bar incredibly low for competitive play on Halo 4 on all of multiplayer.

I agree with you on the mix of both part. I never played 2 and I loved 3 I liked Reach as well it had that gritty Super Soldier feel to it and Halo 4 I liked as well but it just dropped the ball on so many things in MP that I started to dislike it. I really enjoyed the competitiveness in Halo 3 it was challenging and worth wiled to be in a long range sniper fight on sand-trap and finally getting that perfect Head-shot. On Halo 4 though that happens way too often for me and for everyone else. In there goal to make it more casual friendly they got rid of almost all of what made the game challenging and worth wiled in the first place.

They do need to appeal to both sides. The only thing is that competitive settings can be played casually while casual setting can’t really be played competitively. A mix of both would be nice. I love Throwdown aside from the low population leading me to getting destroyed by players 10x my skill level.

Ghost would be a good choice for that position. He has done a lot for competitive Halo 4. The casual stuff is already there.

I would not mind testing MM changes.

Hrmph!
Sniping across Sand Trap was impossible due to lag. That’s why we have hitscan now, just like H2. It’s a bit newcomer-friendly, but at least it’s reliable.

Ghost is a good choice, he never really let Halo down.
But of course do we need some casuals too. Pros just won’t notice flaws like too less aim assist or stuff. They even play in a different way.

As long as they don’t forget about netcoding, this sounds really great!
(^_^)

Oh, and I want Walshy. he’s one of the more innovative-thinking pros.

What?

One or more years experience working in a software development/testing environment. High school diploma or equivalent is required. Associate or Bachelors in Computer Science a plus.

I wonder how many players met the requirements .

Anyway they aren’t going to take a preference over casual or competitive . Although pro did test the previous halos and this halo , but I doubt they have much power. I do not think they have the authority to ask 343 to entirely take out a feature just testing certain game play mechanics ; so even they do get just competitive players they won’t have much power.

My thoughts exactly.
The prerequsites are ridiculous and I bet those guys meeting the reqs don’t represent the vast majority of players. They don’t represent me, that’s for sure!

I guess it’s just for finding bugs and so. Gameplay testing is hopefully done by gamers not developers.

343i should hire an experienced halo player. Someone who knows the gameplay. This will help. 343i need to understand that halo is a competitive game.

Of course, provide players with casual aspects , but bring back the core gameplay as competitive. Let the game have TSG (true skill gap). Remove true skill rank and CSR and Implement a better ranking system for ranked games.

You can play casually on a competitive game, but you can’t play competitively on a casual game. This was Reach/H4’s biggest problem. The separation of Ranked and Social playlists like in Halo 3 was the perfect solution to your complaint.

Honestly guys, even if they hired an extremely competitive gamer to playtest MM, do you really think they would seriously listen to him? He would be banging his head against a brick wall trying to explain all the reasons why the Infinity settings are completely limpdick competitively.

That one person can save Halo.

I think everyone on here should apply.

If 343 had actually done a BETA they wouldnt have lost all of their players. There cocky attitude is what ended up ruining the franchise.

I hope to God they hire as many testers as they possibly can for the next Halo game, especially if they dont hold a beta for it.

However, people who like Halo 4 multiplayer should definitely not apply. Halo Reach and below are the only ones that should be applying honestly…
