I don’t know why I keep getting annoyed that they’re still saying Holiday 2021, because as soon as they give a solid release date I’m just gonna focus on counting down the days until then!

The battle pass is stated to not ‘expire’ at the end of a season. But a new season will bring a new battle pass and then you must decide whether you will continue to progress your current (potentially) unfinished battle pass or the new one. It sounded like you would have to pay for each battle pass, but they could allow the chance of earning that currency through the current battle pass such that you can get the next one for ‘free’ because you finished the last one.
I hope that as the game progresses through its years (as it is the newest, largest addition of Halo and it will be around for awhile) that the amount of battle passes is not as inflated as, say, Apex Legends that has had 8 or 9 seasons in 2.5 years. Imagine having to pay for that many as a new player 2 years in (with or without battle pass attained currency) and then choose only 1 to progress through (this could be changed as seasons go on and there are more passes to progress)
TL;DR the longevity of the battle pass system could turn off new players from certain customization aspects
