I feel like if any movie would stop the bad video game-movie adaptation cycle it would be Halo.
If Nightfall is any indication, then no.
We know Steven Spielberg is working on a Halo TV series right now, and Microsoft are making pushes into the movie industry with a Gears of War movie and a Minecraft Movie in production. It’s easy to speculate that if the Gears and Minecraft movies are successful then Halo would get its own.
But there is also some bad experiences with Halo films (Nightfall and Fall of Reach are prime examples). So we as fans could be sacrificing a lot for the sake of watching instead of playing.

nightfall was advertising halo 5, same with forward onto dawn. they need a stand alone movie that tells its own story

But Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn was good. They just need a good writer, they just don’t have it.

Forward unto dawn was ok but feel I like it could have been better
I thought, and others who I watched the movies with, thought both Nightfall and Forward Unto Dawn were good. Especially considering they were some what low budget and straight to a DVD like release. I still watch them from time to time.
I don’t even remember Forward Unto Dawn, but Nightfall felt like one of those low budget movies you would see on the SyFy channel. It was okay, but not great.
I think every director has had a good feeling about a video game movie however this has always been the problem for video game movies whether it be live action such as Assassin’s Creed or animation like Rachet and Clank. I personally think a video game movie needs to be separate from the deeply integrated lore e.g. Masterchief. Instead I think it would work better with a blank slate of a team, otherwise if we got, lets say a red team movie we would probably nit pick it to hell.
I really liked Forward Unto Dawn, and I even enjoyed Nightfall to an extent, but I don’t know if Hollywood is ready to properly tackle films based on game series. I would prefer that 343 just continued making mini series honestly. If they did make a live action, I would want it to either be a rendition of the first Halo, or a completely new setting with Marines or ODST being the main focus. I would want it to fit into the universe somehow though, because I hate when movies kill off all their characters so they don’t have to fit them into the overall canon.
A Halo horror movie of Marines trying to survive a Flood invasion would be awesome.
Don’t see why halo would be any better. Most games turned into movies suck cause the funds either aren’t there, the wrong people are running it, or the interest just isn’t there.
Im part of the “I have no interest” department.
No, look Microsoft promised this film and they presented it as a reason to buy the console. It has been 4 -Yoinking!- years, and all we’ve heard is ‘‘it’s coming’’ from a single employee. Good things take time, but we have a right to recieve at least some form of update after 4 years.
