Halo movie - live action or CG?

For over a decade, people have talked about the prospects of a Halo movie. Since then, Blur Studios has done the cinematics for Halo Wars, Halo 2 Anniversary, and Halo Wars 2, with their work being universally praised. Now, if, again, IF there ever is a Halo movie, would you prefer it to be live action or CG done entirely by Blur?

I would definitely prefer live action. I don’t think many people would take it as seriously if it was CG.

I hope we get a story as good as forward unto dawn and action as good as Landfall.

Imagine getting The Fall of Reach. Also, do you think people would be impressed if it was 100% CG done by Blur and seeing how good it looks?

I think it’d be better if 100% Blur CG and here’s why:
Reason #1 is because it would look more consistent than a live action movie with CGI in it. When I look at something like Avengers: Infinity War, it makes me question why they have to have any people acting in real life when the rest of the movie is just going to be CGI.
Reason #2 is you have a lot more creative freedom with what the characters look like, their voices, action scenes, ETC.

I would go CG to get those accurate spartan/elite/brute/hunter proportions. They’re freaking HUGE compared to other things in the galaxy, and I feel a live action while good to see done would mess up the scale.

Yeah, and also I think the movie would be riddled with CG anyway, you might as well make the entire movie CG.

I agree with that but they did the brutes and marines very good in Landfall.
EDIT: but then again i guess they did use a little bit of CG for the brutes.

I think I’d want it to be live action but the fighting would be a mix of CGI and live so they can do crazier -Yoink-

While live action would be cool, I think CG would be the way to go. A huge chunk of the movie would already be CG, I think it would be better if the entire movie is 100% CG.

I don’t know. I think CG would be awesome, but for some reason in the U.S. (I don’t know if it’s like that in other countries) CG is sort of considered a genre instead of a medium and is usually tied to either children’s movies or comedy.
Most people don’t really know what Halo is except as that one game my children play, so I think CG would further reinforce that mindset.

It would be cool if they could make a CG movie that breaks that mindset, by adapting The Fall of Reach.

I’d be fine either way but I think live action is the way to go. It’d be great to see if cosplayers and cosplay companies get to be a part of something this epic

could you imagine if you just have hundreds of community members having a giant battle.
i would…probably try to join.

Would be good to have CGI, but not too much. Make it as good as the Live Action / CGI in District 9, but don’t overload and do Avatar CGI.

I think if they did it completely CG like with Blur, I think it would be amazing. They could break the mold of movies 100% CG.

Blur CGI is extremely expensive (or so I’ve heard), and as others have said, CG films aren’t taken as seriously by most people. This means less people outside of the Halo community would give it a go, so that means less money earned back, reducing the chance of a sequel. I think live action is the way to go, but use CGI extensively. There’s no need for CGI humans and gear, and real actors would create better immersion.

The rumor of them charging $1 million per minute sounds very unlikely, as they probably wouldn’t have the money they do. Also, I think Halo could be the frontrunner to prove that CG movies can be taken seriously and be extremely good. Also, you can be accurate and precise. Just my thoughts though.

Lmao. You’re wrong.

PS - that’s a cheap estimate.

Yeesh, you gotta be so harsh about it?

It’s factual, not harsh.

You keep posting these really bizarre theories and insist on them being possible. You refuse to consider that you may be wrong if things are said any way other than straight to the point so I don’t see the point in beating around the bush.

Blur making a full CG movie would be badass, yes. But it would also be prohibitively expensive. There’s a reason it hasn’t been done thus far. Even at a million a minute. a 90 minute Blur movie would be insanely priced. And that’s a super cheap estimate.
