lol, it’s definitely on hold right now. But it’s got to happen sometime, Speilberg is still interested in doing it, but the whole thing keeps falling apart over the money issues. Microsoft want a huge sum upfront as well as the usual percentage. That’s just not how movies are made, and all the messing about has annoyed all the potential directors so much they’ve walked. There’s no script, but there were a few storyboards and concept art done.
This could happen tomorrow if Microsoft were to stop messing around. If Speilberg’s on board then it’s his terms not theirs. Also the UNSC kit in Halo is so clearly influenced from Speilberg’s film “Aliens”, it kind of fits in a way that was meant to be.
In the meantime, watch Aliens extended version and imagine the aliens are covenant and the space-marines are Spartans. It’s the best you’re gonna get for now 
It’ll happen eventually. It’s simply a matter of logistics currently.

Actually it was James Cameron, I think I had Speilberg on the brain. It’s Cameron I ideally want to direct Halo the movie not Speilberg. But Speilberg is a great director so…
