Ok this is just for conversation but I wanted to know what the halo community thinks would make a better halo movie, a live action movie or Blur making an entire halo movie based off the books?
Oh man, tough choice…
If they got the people who did Forward Unto Dawn and we didn’t have a connection to the series beyond what they did there (that is, its not a remake of a game, which seems to be the downfall of most video game movies, ex; Doom, Assassin’s Creed), then I say go for it.
If not, Blur animating an entire movie seems a little…excessive perhaps? Im not sure they’ve done something that big before…but if theoreticaly they COULD they would probably do a pretty good job.
Did they do Fall of Reach?
That would be awesome if blur made a cutscene movie for one of the books!
An animated movie based on the books would be awesome, so long as the art style matches the era and they stay fairly close to the source.
Though, I think there is a lot of untapped potential for original movies. Halo, in similar vein to Star Wars, is a big universe filled with tons of untold stories spanning multiple conflicts. I’d love to see more stories told from the perspective of ODSTs and Marines, it was something I especially liked from Forward Unto Dawn. What I’d really love to see is an anthology series, something that combined Halo: Legends and Forward Unto Dawn.

Yeah I agree games don’t make great movies, that’s why I think it should be done from the books starting with The Fall of Reach because the books cover the exact same events with Chief in the games but it gives more source material to work from.
Definitely a live action movie. No animation crap.

Blur is not crap animation it’s the perfection of it anyway I personally would like to see Blur do it because in order to do a live action right would take a crap ton with a mountain on top of CGI and that stuffs expensive, so I just don’t think any movie studios are that interested in halo to invest so many resources in it. (my opinion)
horror history about the flood in mombasa in Halo3

Sequence (the people behind all of the terminal videos) was responsible for TFoR Animated.

God it. I keep confusing them…
Shouldn’t really, its obvious who does what when you think about it. FoR is basically an hour long terminal.
Personally, I don’t think movies fit with Halo. I enjoyed Forward Unto Dawn, yes, but if the movies are about stuff that aren’t explained in-game or books and is an entirely new set, the film will get bad reviews. I think that, if they’re making Halo movies, it should be a live-action or animated stuff about what happens in the books.

That’s what I meant that blur should use the books I’ve read them so there’s definitely enough material to use.

I have never read one in my life, but I think that statement is about to come to an end.

I agree, this is indeed a tough choice. It just depends, I guess. If we got a live action film, the cast would have to be absolutely perfect and the action spot on. But then I look at films based on other video game franchises and I begin to lose hope (Assassin’s Creed and Resident Evil, for instance). Animation, on the other hand, is less risky and action scenes can take place on much wider scales with substantially less resources. Ultimately, I prefer we get a hyperrealistic, animated series based on both the books and the games.

So something like Fall of Reach but better? I could get behind that.

Contact Harvest, The Fall of Reach, The Flood, First Strike and Ghosts of Onyx in my opinion are must reads for any halo fan but if you only read one then it should be Contact Harvest because the rest are all linked they literally pick up where the one before left off accept Onyx but it still ties in.

Wow thanks. But I was thinking on reading the Forerunner Trilogy, something like that first, after I finish reading a book I recently bought. Then maybe I’ll buy Ghosts of Onyx. Thanks for the advice.

The Forerunner Trilogy is good too I’ve only read the first one so far but I have the other two I just need to read them sometime.
