I noticed recently that both Halo: Mythos and the Halo Legendary LootCrate have the exact same style; black primary color, technical detailing, gold trim and lettering. As far as I know, these are the only two things so far to have that style of packaging. I couldn’t help but thinking there’s a reason for that. So, after thinking about what these two things have in common, I arrived at a simple conclusion; 343 confirmed that both of these things are meant to ‘connect’ real-world fans to the fictional Halo Universe. Meaning these types of merchandise must be adopting a unified design.
- Halo: Mythos isn’t just a story-guide for Halo; it’s explained in the book that it is actually an in-universe artifact compiled by a UNSC AI, containing knowledge gathered from the Ark and the UNSC database.
- Halo Legendary Crate acts as a means of ‘indoctrinating’ fans into an exclusive UNSC Spartan Fireteam, Fireteam Apollo.
Is there anything else that’s released recently with this similar style of packaging? Is it possible that this isn’t just a coincidence, but a conscious decision by 343 Industries?
