I am appalled. 5 years for this? This is way too cartoony. How can Halo 3, developed 13 years ago and Halo 2 Anniversary look better than this game with a supposedly brand new engine?
Standouts:
Banished phantom - the epitome of the mega bloks art style
The close up of the brute in the trailer
The UNSC structure or whatever structure the Chief went up in the lift - genuinely looked liked plastic.
In short, I’m in shock.
343 - delay the game and make this less Mega Bloks like please.
Why are there no textures? Genuinely I know there are textures obviously but you get what I mean. I can’t get over the phantom https://i.imgur.com/b8PI5Qp.png

I wonder if they just pulled the HW2 models? I mean, it would look fine zoomed out.

Well I don’t think I would go that far. But it does make me wonder about Infinite.
I assume they’re making things more cartoony to give it a “timeless” look, like Team Fortress 2 and CE to some degree. My concern is that they’re going a little overboard for that Fortnite (child) audience. I’ll have to watch the trailer more to form a good opinion, but it’s certainly more cartoony than expected.

halo 3 has a timeless artstyle. this just looks cartoony and bland. the textures need more details, the saturation needs to be toned down and the lighting improved. the polygonal fidelity and shape looks good. the hud needs a lot of reworking too, as it looks like the destiny hud, not a halo hud.
I just don’t get it they had all the feedback to the halo wars 2 style
and have seen that everyone found that cool and hoped that halo infinite will also have the same art style
well after all the masterchief can be sold 1:1 as skin at fortnite… that is something after all, isn’t it?

OMG this is exactly it. Their pandering to the fortnite audience. People saying this game looks like CE I don’t get because CEs style looked leagues better with limited polygons and stuff, I suppose its the same in terms of colour usage but still its a stretch. Looks so much more like fortnite to me now that you say that though.

I think it just needs blood to win over that issue. I mean, Halo 3 is like super cartoony.

It still isn’t finished, and look at some of the subtle details like water, particles or chief’s hands in that elevator or before he exits the pelican.
I’m not entirely denying it but to say this loocks Halo 5 levels of plastic is unfair. Also I think it has to do with the art style.

Halo 3 is nothing at all like this, that isn’t a comparison.
