I had this idea for a Halo game since Halo Wars first released. The idea stems from playing Quake Wars before learning anything about Halo Wars and thinking it was going to be similar but set in the Halo universe. Halo Wars was not the most amazing RTS and it came as a surprise for me to find out that it was before it released, but I fell in love with it anyways. The characters, the story, and the gameplay. However, what if there was a Halo game that was Covenant vs UNSC based in the time Reach was being attacked and it played like a gritty Halo with a class system akin to Battlefield. Now it could easily be done. The UNSC can be four Spartan-III classes. Sniper, Assault, Heavy and Pilot. The sniper can wield DMR’s, the UNSC sniper rifle and maybe a semi auto BR. Assault will wield the AR and the burst BR. The Heavy can use the SAW, the original AR from CE and rocket launchers and Spartan lasers. The pilot can duel wield weapons and use the SMG,
and the shotgun. Level unlocks will still be armor but each class has different styles of armor. The Sniper will use Scout, Recon and other reconaissance variants. Assault can use Security, Warrior, Commando etc. Heavy will use bulkier armor and Pilot will use Pilot, EVA and those types of helmets. Their armor will be reflective of their tactics and the higher in rank you are with a class, the more armor you get with them and the more you can customize them. Their abilities will play into how each class or role should be played. Pilot can hijack vehicles and their perks relate to make them better at using them. Assault will use perks that help a player regen shields faster and they can carry more ammo and grenades. Heavy will be able to deal more damage to vehicles and snipers will be spotters etc.
As for the covenant, they can make the heavies Brutes and the rest of the classes elites. The same with the UNSC classes apply to the covenant, giving the covenant classes the weapon counter parts from the unsc. Needle rifle, carbines, plasma rifles, storm rifles, heavy plasma rifles, fuel rod canons and the plasma grenade launcher etc. Armor can be similar to previous games for the elites and the Brutes can use armor we’ve seen in Halo 3. The gameplay will be similar to Halo Reach, giving both factions an even playing field, but placing more people in a match on bigger maps. Essentially it’ll be a Battlefield esque Halo MP game, using more Halo gameplay with Battlefield type spawns, map size and unlocks but pertaining to armor rather than guns.
This was my idea in short, sorry if it seems vague.
Might be better in the games section rather than the Universe…but a good idea none the less.
