I bound my mouse’s side buttons to melee and grenades. For some reason my mouse side buttons quit working even though they are showing as bound in the bindinds menu. I tried the normal troubleshooting options like hard resting and deleting local saves but that didn’t help. Tried a different mouse but still had the same problem. However when I hold right-click the side buttons started working again which doesn’t make any sense because I never had to do that before. I tried a different game that supports mouse and keyboard (Deep Rock Galactic) and the side buttons work just fine.

My best guess is that the Series X system update had something to do with the mouse issues. Mouse and keyboard was working just fine before the update.
Also experiencing the same problem, using Razer mouse/keyboard setup. Holding the right mouse button will allow me to use the side buttons on the mouse. Otherwise they don’t work. But I can map them in the settings menu just fine. Very weird.
im having the same problem. Was very exited to play with mouse and keyboard. I literally cannot play without side mouse buttons. I’m very pissed off this needs to be fixed now. I ain’t playing halo with controller because i suck -Yoink- so I guess I’ll spend my time on another game. Absolutely stupid that the game has a problem like this. The mouse buttons work on all the other games but mcc.
Having the same issue since this morning right after I updated my controller. Well we can’t do anything else except than reporting the bug and wait lol.

Definitely not just their game… post after post is saying otherwise. Halo support isn’t helping much either…

Still important to submit tickets. Might not be something Support can povide a direct resolution for, but these issues can get tracked, sent for investigation and bug fixing.
mouse 4 and 5 on my logitec no longer work for any binding this is happening for everyone unreal…

It seems to be a problem an all Xboxes. A friend of mine tried using mouse and keyboard on his One S and the same problem occurred on MCC.

Same and I’ve also found mouse 4 and 5 work while holding either LMB or RMB. I opened a ticket with 343 and they said they don’t know when it’ll be fixed.

that’s dumb, but i have also submitted a ticket not too long ago
It’s still broken
It’s ok the mouse buttons straight up won’t bind in infinite and they mouse won’t let you look more than 45 degrees verticals and 45 degrees horizontally, so I’d say 343 is definitely getting it figured out.

The software is the same for all the consoles I believe. I am having the same problem on BOTH my xbox one x and my xbox series x. I can bind anything I want to the thumb mouse buttons, but once Im playing, the only way for me to swap weapons (mouse 4) is for me to first right click, then hit mouse 4. I am using a hyper x mouse and keyboard. All other functions work as far as I can tell. Couldnt tell you for sure because not being able to use thumb buttons triggers me and i just whip out my controller.
I would have to say it is on microsoft’s side. Because I have been having the same issue but not only in halo titles. Other games that have M&KB support also do not allow me to use the side buttons on my mouse.
