Halo: MCC. XB1 game of 2014, in *your* opinion?

We are slowly creeping up on the one year anniversary of the Xbox One. Many of the games, such as Watchdogs, and in many peoples opinions, Destiny, seriously failed to live up to their hype. Sure they were fun, but they weren’t the Earth-shattering games that justified your $500 Xbox One. Ryse was gorgeous, but lacked fun. Deadrising 3 was great, but the graphics weren’t quite next gen ( high zombie counts though ), and as usual, the Forza games were gorgeous and fun. Beyond that , the exclusives weren’t too spectacular. The third party games weren’t amazing either. BF4 was super fun, but FILLED with problems. Cod had another high-action campaign, but had disappointing multiplayer.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection brings us four critically acclaimed games, terrific graphics, and in my opinion, the funnest multiplayer around. It’s not a simple Cash-in, it’s also to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Halo 2. With insane graphics, a silky smooth frame-rate, and movie quality CGI cutscenes, it’s like a whole new game. Experiencing a true classic, with epic space battles, beutiful environments, an awesome story, and some of the best enemies in gaming, Halo 2 anniversary alone is worth $60. We get four campaigns, 100+ multiplayer maps, all new skulls and terminals, Halo:Nightfall, and the Halo 5 beta. So, here’s my question: Is Halo: The Masterchief Collection *your game of the year for Xbox One? It’s certainly mine.
Edit:People who think Halo:MCC is game of the year 2014 (so far):4 (Including me)

Fun fact: Before Halo 3 ODST came with my Xbox 360, I NEVER touched Halo. Goes to show how good it ended up being.

We’ll have to wait and see when it launches, definitely high up there though

TBD for me. I’ve had a lot of fun with Titanfall and am eagerly awaiting Sunset Overdrive. I will probably crack and buy AC Unity and Lego Batman 3 because I enjoy those re-hashed franchises a lot, too. That all being said, I will almost assuredly dump most of my gaming time into MCC. It’s a good time to be a gamer.

I know I didn’t answer the question. I just enjoy video games, Halo or otherwise.

I don’t think so. It will be the game that I spend the most time on but I don’t think a game getting a re-mastered should be able to get the “Game of the Year” and what not. Like the PS4 The Last of Us. Also there’s games out there like Forza Horizon 2 that gets my vote for “My Game of the Year”. (Witch is funny because I’m more into First Person Shooter then racing games)

Absolutely! With everything they are including
in the MCC all for the price of one game is incredible.

For an extreme Halo fan I’d say it’ll be my favourite game of all time (if that’s not cheating lol)

For a professional game journalist, it would be bad to give a remaster game of the year. For me, I have yet to experience any game that justified my $500 Xbox One. Halo: The Mc collection will finally be that game. Last of all, Halo 2 isn’t a simple remaster. Formatting a movie that was originally on vhs, and putting it on a blue-ray disk is a remastering. Halo 2 has all new CGI cutscenes, great graphics, great story, and more. Playing Halo 2 with next-gen graphics beats the hell out of all of the disappointing games that 2014 has been bombarded with.

That’s the spirit!

Definitely. I mean, first off, there is the huge value of the package. 4 games for the price of one? You’d have to be crazy to pass up a deal like that!
Then, it’s Halo on the Xbox One. I know many sold their 360s in order to buy the XB1, so I think many of us are just itching to play Halo.
Also, Halo 2 Anniversary is packaged in the collection, and that alone would have been GOTY for me.

It’s just such an amazing collection all wrapped up in one package. I can’t think of any other game that has reached the critical levels of hype the MCC has me at. gg 343. gg

To be honest, I still play a lot of Halo 3, and Halo 4. Most games of 2014 were wastes of money, disappointing or just okay. Ironically my games of 2014 ( games that I enjoyed, and played the most this year, were games that have been out for years.) With this in mind, experiencing those two, along with Halo1, and Halo 2 ( completely redone graphics, sounds etc), Halo the mc collection is my game of the year.

This game is for sure my game of the year!!!

When you consider how lack-luster a lot of 2014 XB1 games ended up being, Halo:MCC is coming to wipe my tears, and finally give me the stunning XB1 experience I have been waiting for.

I try to hop into Halo 3 every chance I get. Still my favorite Halo to date. But I have trouble playing Halo 4. Just something seems off with it. I enjoyed it for a while, but after so long it got to the point of boring. Which is too bad, because 4 is a good game, even though it’s far from the best Halo.
As for 2014’s games, I enjoyed Forza Horizon 2, Alien Isolation, and Warframe on Xbox One. I’m still playing Destiny, as well, but the PvP, in my opinion, is an unbalanced mess and the game itself is lacking in content. While I don’t hate Desiny, I don’t see me playing it at all once the MCC is out.

That’s what I mean. Halo:MCC is the XB1 juggernaut I have been waiting for. It has been in its box for about 3 weeks, because I took it to my friends house, and didn’t even bother to set it up, CONSIDERING, that many of the funnest games I own are on 360. My XB1 is going to be so redeemed next month!

Should it be given any sort of Game of the Year award? Absolutely not.

Will it be my personal Game of the Year? You’re damn right it will.

My GOTY will probably still be Dark Souls 2, but i expect the MCC to be my most played game of this new generation so yeah, it will be pretty awesome.

Will it be my game of the year? No, that award is currently owned by Shadow of Mordor. That being said however, just based on looks alone and prior halo experience, I would say that this game is coming in at a close second. If I’m impressed by the anniversary multiplayer than I can see it becoming my game of the year mainly because I consider it a new game and I only give such awards to new games.

Ok first let’s look at its not a new game. It’s a not even really a remake but a refurbished need. No game has effected the gaming community as much as CoD modern warfare 2 and of course the reason why Xbox live exploded and why Microsoft survived halo 2. With that being said halo had its time as game of the year if you give this game a game of the year vote we are mistaken. It’s what the Xbox live community needs a way that all of us join together spending your day at work hoping to get off work to spend your waking free time killing each other over and over till we play the -Yoink- out of a game. The reason I say it’s needed for a look in the mirror of gaming is when you take a look at your friends list which mi e includes 11 years of buddies. There isn’t a onslaught of people playing one game. Just look at your friends. Everyone is playing any and every other game. Is my personal game of the year yes. But it’s because it’s what I need. All of us need it.

There are no other Xbox One games I’m interested in and I’m planning on getting one for Halo, so, yeah. :stuck_out_tongue:
