Has Halo MCC retaken the spotlight as Halo’s current “big thing” as oppose to Halo 5 guardians?
Personally as a fan of all halo games, I spend a fair amount of time on all the different games. but lately I have been focusing on Halo 5 after I joined a spartan company.
I am also very aware that amidst the Halo community, Guardians has been a rather controversial topic, with some players saying it’s garbage and that we should go back to the originals and some other players absolutely loving it.
With the release of halo mcc on pc and the latest addition of halo ce anniversary; are 343 industries trying to take the focus off Halo 5 Guardians long enough for us to appreciate Halo infinite when that finally drops?
this is just some rambling thoughts i have. nothing special.
And for the record I love all halo games but am a big fan of the fast paced game style highlighted in Guardians

Right now the spotlight is focused on the mcc, Halo 5 is about to die because it’ s never been a complete game. Adding and removing playlists Just don’ t work, and having social playlists totally different from ranked is not user friendly, to keep a game alive you have to bet on casuals and all that just wanna have fun for a few hours.
They are halo’ s blood. Without them hardcore-users will keep playing, but they are the smaller part.

I would say that yes, the focus is absolutely on the MCC instead of Guardians, which honestly does make a lot of sense. The state of the MCC in 2015 was disastrous, and with the next big project (Halo 5) hot on its heels, there wasn’t a ton of time to work on it and work on fixing it. So they rolled out all their content and updates for Halo 5, and then came back around to MCC, with that time being now. I don’t think they’re intentionally trying to take the focus off Halo 5 (they’re still doing playlist updates), but they’re instead focusing on the new updates of MCC and the inclusion of PC with it.

I have to disagree with this take. Halo 5 has been a complete game. It definitely is a lot more competitive-favored as opposed to the MCC which is more social-favored, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be a fun social single player experience.

Yes it can, but it can also been annoying, right now most of casuals play warzone ( where now you mostly find sweatlords), wrz firefight that isn’t really… fun (?) or btb fiesta, also knonw as rocket fiesta. The point is that now ( if you are a casual player) you can find people that can “ruin” your time in.

I think the competitive nature of halo 5 is what pushes people away from it. The overall gameplay is designed to focus more on competitive play, making it much easier for skilled players to destroy casuals. Legacy halos such as halo 3 still had this problem but it is not as bad. With all the new updates to MCC the players that have left are returning to what they see as the “good Halo”
The thing with MCC is that people see it as a way to relive some glory days from their childhood (or whenever they played) which is why it appeals so much. Halo 5 still has some appeal because of some features it has over MCC, but some times people just want to play older halos that they can’t on the original copies.
