Ok so here is the rundown of how to install the update and the final size.
Your Xbox needs to be in instant on mode. Auto updates need to be checked as well. You can only download the patch if you bought it digitally on the Xbox store.
To get the update to start your Xbox needs to be off for around 5 to 10 mins. Turn it back on and it should say the game is updating. The download seems to update in bunches. For example it will go from 66%, three minutes later it goes to 77%. The patch is only 15GB as opposed to 20.

Thanks for the info… However I’ve tried this numerous times and still won’t update. Very weird & annoying. Do you have any other tips? I usually keep my console in energy saving mode so I’m not used to updating this way. But I’ve got it on instant-on and auto update.

I believe i also got 59.1 as well. But when clicking on the game, it only shows the 45. But if you go to “manage game” it comes up as 59.1, so i think that it has already downloaded when my box was off. Is that right?

Yup, I guessed my update started when I tried to start a steam download earlier and noticed my download speed was off, powered on my Xbox and sure enough Halo was updating.
-Yoink- - wish I would’ve seen this before I left for work today, lol. Guess I’ll have to wait until I get home! I have auto updates and instant on is selected so I guess I should be good to go, right?
Can anybody confirm if the update is available for disk owners its not a big deal if it is not I’m just curious I don’t mind waiting a bit longer on day 1.

Getting the update early is only available for digital purchases. Disc owners will have to wait until November 11th to download the update after installing their disc.
5 GB less, that’s good, It’ll take a little less to download… After I install it… during november 11th… While many people will be playing already…
Well atleast I will be playing the campaign. Also I’m glad just because this exists!
That suggestion didn’t work. I’ve did a hard power off so many times and got messages saying I have an update ten click on Galo only to be told that the game won’t be available till 11th. Then got a message saying download stopped, checked my queue and nothing there. I got rapped in my ARs so hard for a PoS system that cost me 500!
