Hey, all. I just uploaded this to reddit. If you wouldn’t mind just taking a quick look at the video and see what I mean. But, in case you don’t watch it. It’s a video of me connecting to an Australian server. (I am Australian) The lag is a tad WORSE than when I connect to a U.S server. And my highest ping in Australia is connecting to WA or TAS, which is at absloute worse case about 60-70ms. This is ALOT more than that. Just wanted you guys to check this out. What is everyone’s thoughts?

So there are relays, then? What a bloody joke! It seems to me like a very serious issue. And yet nothing but silence?

Yes you have to block the relay server ips heres a video exposing the issues https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bwq5ZKMHNbQ also I don’t know what they are doing but the servers for mcc on PC are better I know that for a fact but they aren’t perfect.

Wow…That’s a disgrace. How are people around the world supposed to enjoy the game? Lol.

Well ideally it would be great if they set it up so that AUS plays AUS, REU plays REU, USA plays USA, etc. You should only play outside of your server if you want to play with friends and know in advance that the game will have more lag. The way it’s setup now, when you live in AUS and play on USA East, it’s taking 10 headshots for those in USA to kill you because the game is giving you a latency buffer. You could walk behind me, I could melee, and it would be a betrayal and it will show in my screen that you were behind me, but in your screen it will show you in front of me. We tested this and recorded it on both ends. I’m in the states with 900 mb down and 200 mb up connection with amazing ping and when I connect to USA east server, if there are people outside of the USA playing, what I see on my screen isn’t what is happening, I’m getting shot behind walls, yet as soon as I play a game with only players in USA, I’m going 35-0 in 4v4 halo CE. There’s zero consistency depending on who is in the game with you and it needs to be fixed. I could understand if someone had host, but why isn’t it consistent when I join the same sever game after game? Why are other peoples locations impacting my game? They shouldn’t, since it’s server based. Who at 343 thought this was a good idea? Who handled the net code so that we can contact them directly and have a discussion about it and why it is the way it is?

PERFECTLY said, mate. I agree 110% with you. I don’t mind lag if I am playing with American mates etc, and I know it will happen. It’s just every single match playing alone lol.
Up until late last year, this is how it worked. Based on your ping to certain servers you would ultimately only match with those players who were closest to your best ping server location. Community was very vocal about removing this “region lock”, which 343 eventually did: (do a search for region lock in this forum)

Did the community ever say that in addition to removing region lock, a latency buffer advantage should be given to those far from the server so that it takes 10 headshots for those in USA to down an over seas opponent when playing on US EAST server in Halo CE? If that was never requested, why was it implemented?
