Every single fix suggested here does not work at all. Deleted the MCC folder and validating the files, or just pressing Alt + Enter, and I don’t even know how to uninstall Halo 2 Multiplayer outside of the game, that I can’t access in the first place. Unless anyone here knows the filepath to go to to delete Halo 2 Multiplayer outside the game, I don’t know what else to do.
I had the same issue and for some reason I only get the issue when halo 2 multiplayer is installed. I am able to play halo 2 multiplayer if I install it while in the game but if i try to play something else afterwards, my game crashes and I have to uninstall halo 2 (multiplayer) again in order to get back into the game. For those wondering how to uninstall anything from outside of your game you simply go to the steam page that you would normally launch your game from and find you dlc if you scroll down the page. select manage my dlc and deselect halo 2 multiplayer. You don’t have to uninstall the campaign(or at least I didn’t). Doing this fixed the black screen for me and, while it is annoying that I cant play halo 2 without going through the process stated above, its better that not being able to play anything. Hopefully this could help.
Well at the time I had it up to here with it even though that expression doesn’t really work like this, I put out a support ticket, and the method it told me to do fixed it, and it was to go to appdata, then Halo, copy the MCC folder, delete the original, and try to boot up Halo, and if it works delete the copy folder.
Issue’s resolved, thank god.

This worked for me. Cheers.
I bought MCC from the Microsoft store
Any suggestions on how I can fix it?

When I deleted the MCC folder, it stopped the game from running. Verifying the game files didnt fix it. I’m trying to do this for Halo 4, any tips?

I’m sorry. Couldn’t add anything other than what was said in the post I quoted.
For those following this, this was solved below, at least for Intel UHD 620 Graphics Card users. You have to update your graphics card driver, it worked for me.

Thank you so much, it somehow worked for me.
So… here is a FIX that worked for me…
Problem: Once restarting the game the music and audio plays, it seems to be working, but nothing is being shown (alt-shift-right/left) moves a blank window with special mouse cursor to next screen. But regardless of what I did starting the game the main window would not show.
Fix:
Winbows 10: Go to this file location
C:\Users*YOURUSERNAMEHERE*\AppData\LocalLow\MCC\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor
replace the bolded with the user profile (if you don’t know it then start run CMD, it will show it there, then exit or X the window)
Open the file
C:\Users*YOURUSERNAMEHERE*\AppData\LocalLow\MCC\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\GameUserSettings.ini
Search for (should be towards the bottom)
FullscreenMode=0
My setting was set to ZERO as shown above, I changed it to 1, save. and now the game launches correctly.
FullscreenMode=1
Enjoy… If it works for you give it some Love (hearts).
Robert
This is exactly what I was looking for.
In the Steam version of the game, there are two MCC files-- One in the location where the game files are stored, and one in AppData to save local configuation.
I knew there had to be a place inside the files that stored your screen scaling preference, and this location in AppData is it. This MCC file is the one that the other guys deleted and uninstalled, not the one stored with the game files, and this particular setting is what gets reset back to default by deleting it.
Thank you
- Open the Control Panel.
- Select File Explorer Options.
- Select the View tab of the File Explorer Options window.
- Choose Show hidden files, folders, and drives. …
- The AppData folder is located at C:\users\YOURNAME, where YOURNAME is your Windows profile ID.
Go to whatever drive is on C,D,F etc. User, name,AppData, LocalLow, MCC and delete it, done.
This worked for me
Deleted, then verified game files. Launched game and everything works again.
I have an issue where almost every other MP game on MCC the match will load, then randomly I’m kicked to a black screen with menu music playing and my cursor visable. I am stuck there for the duration of the match then it will say I was kicked. I keep eating constant bans from it and its driving me nuts. I tried searching all the file names that were suggested in the tread, but I get no results.
