Most of Halo MCC mods are broken due to the updates and halo ce, 2, and 3 mod tools isn’t good as the previous mods. The mod tools let you only edit maps through a complicated way. You have to go through files and folders to just add something like weapons, and sometimes making a good map is kinda harder in mod tools than in forge. Although some people are good at using mod tools and they make good mods, but it doesn’t compare to the mods where it can change and expand the gameplay, puts usable vehicles like scarabs or longswords, or mods that change the appearance of the game.

Aren’t these mods only possible through the use of the official mod tools? I am little confused here, your stating that the official mod tools aren’t as easy to use as the community made ones, but the official ones have easier versioning comparability and more complex mod potential. What exactly is the issue with the tools?
I am a modder who was big into the HCE tools back on Halo Custom Edition PC. I remained active making Firefight maps/AI Wars/Campaign Levels for that game until about 2015. Then I burned out and took a step back from HCE modding. Now with 343 making a dream of mine come true (H2/H3 tools), I’m getting back into it. I have quite a bit to re-learn/figure out. These games’ tools are somewhat different from the CE tools of the old days.
One mod I am working on is a massive AI battle on Coagulation in H2. Only problem is none of the AI are spawning when I compile the map and load it into MCC. In the editor, they are there and are fighting. I even created a script to keep them respawning after death indefinitely. In game, nothing. They never spawn in the first place. So it looks like I am doing something wrong. In the meantime I’m going to try out making another AI war in H3.

The issue is making mods with the mod tools. You have go through various files and folders to get the tags you want to use to make the maps. And placing markers for the placed ai to move seems difficult to do as well. Also scripting the AI to respawn is problematic.
I wish that the halo mod tools will be updated to be more simple to use like forge. That could benefit modders a whole lot. I don’t know if this will happen, but I hope it will.

It would be nice to have simpler tools, but these are very similar to what the developers used to build these games. If there was a way to make it like forge it would be a complex and time consuming effort. To date these are the most powerful mod tools released and I’m sure modders will create some awesome stuff.
343 is keen on feedback for these tools, if you feel that there are ways to make it easier to use feel free to let them know in the official feedback threads.
