Now what im saying is it is defeating the original ideas behind each of the halo games, each and every single halo game is unique and with the frustrating news that halo 3 online servers are shut off we are stuck with, this.

what you see is just so much simpler BUT way more functional than what we got nowadays, and just like WHY??? I feel like we are missing so much cool features and looks but now every button press is a menu inside a menu!
343 NEEDS to take the time and remake the ui, remake the option menus, and remake how each selection of each game more unique. take the themes of the games and put it into the menu style

The UI from a visual stand point is definitely uninspired to say the least, but outside of the UI how is it visually not a good port? I will die on the hill that every game in the collection is graphically superior to their original release. Reach without motion blur, HD presentations of CE and 2.
i mean in the menus and such, visually coming into the game and not the graphics. it just looks so flat and it really undersells the legacy each game had on the gaming world
but i should mention the god awful reach forge issues that had plagued the game, like how long did it take for them to fix THAT?
also like the backgrounds i think would be visual right? but seriously, all of this is basic military background stuff that shows and we all know how boring it is to see the same bullets used for “visual eyecandy”
Fair enough, the menus themselves are pretty muted. The team has demonstrated how they can change the background visuals, hopefully they can make that process simpler so people can just load in menu packs themselves or change it to be more iconic.
Off the top of my head probably took them a little less than 2 years to finally fix the horrible flashing problem with high object count forge maps.
This is also a hill I’d be willing to die on. The visuals of MCC are far superior to the originals. And while the UI isn’t very inspired, it is unique to MCC, it has it’s own feel to it.
I would love to see a UI overhaul more than anything else on MCC. I’d like to see vertical navigation instead of horizontal like we have now. Furthermore, with seasons being done, it’ll be nice to see each title have its own (live) backgrounds.
And please order the campaigns by release date instead of chronological order. Current order makes no sense as ODST is set during 2 but placed after 3 on the menu.
I don’t agree on the game visuals (now that CE has been fixed) but I hate the UI. It’s terribly inefficient.
I miss the UI from the Bungie games; it was better, and it had a sense of continuity. From Halo 2 to Reach, each game built on the previous game’s UI, streamlining and adding features.
343 has redesigned the UI completely for each game, and none of them have been good. The change is jarring each time. The UIs are clunky and poorly optimized. Something that was a 3 step process in Reach might take 5 or 6 steps in the MCC. Last night some friends and I spent at least 5 minutes just trying to find each other and join the same fireteam in Infinite. In Reach it would have taken like 10 seconds and WAY fewer clicks/button presses.
I don’t know if they can make it better, honestly. They’ve filled it with an overwhelming amount of settings. There’s only so much that can be done when you have 6 games, each with 50+ toggles, sliders, accessibility settings, and so on.
