Halo MCC - Halo 3 ODST Not Working (Xbox)

Hello,

First of all, apologies if this is posted in the incorrect place, please advise where to if indeed wrong.

Okay, so i´m having issues with Halo 3 ODST in the MCC, I just can´t seem to find a way to be able to play it. I downloaded it via the Xbox Game Pass, but it just doesn´t seem to do the trick. If I go and try to start the campaign by Quick Start or Missions it displays to me “Halo 3: ODST DLC Requirted - Halo 3: ODST is not installed. Would you like to visit the Xbox Store?”. If I proceed to do so, I go to add-ons for the game in which Reach and ODST appear, both with the “Installed” beneath the name and 5 star rating. If I click on ODST it says "This product is installed. You can use Halo 3: ODST with Xbox Game Pass for Console, or buy it to own.

So other interesting thing to point out, and perhaps the root of this, is that if I go to My games & apps, Halo MCC, ODST is not installed, though it appears in the section “Ready to install”, which is very weird, if I proceed to install it will then display as “Installed” with the Halo MCC 101.5GH, Reach with 10MB and ODST with 10Mb, but still, if I access the game, try to play ODST, it will tell me the DLC is required, and oddly enough when I go back to my game & apps and check the Halo MCC ODST doesn´t appear on the installed games, again just in “Ready to install”. If I install it it will actually still appear available in Ready to install tab.

Lastly, inside Halo MCC if I go to Options & Career, settings, Gameplay, Change Installed Games, ODST appears as Installed with the white checked box below, but a lock and sort of x covering the image of it. I can de-select and select the campaigns for all other games, but for ODST when I de-select it, it does´nt let me select it again.

I genuinely don´t know what i´m doing wrong and I checked other posts in this forum where they had a similar issue but there was no clear answer in sight.

This is really sad & kinda frustrating, I recently started replaying all the campaigns but can´t go ahead with this one.

Apologies for the long post, any advice & help is greatly appreciated.

Have a good one and stay safe!

Edit:
Something I forgot mentioning, I already tried uninstalling and installing again 2 times (which took a while for the 100 GBs) and it didn´t work.

Unfortunate.

I am also having this issue. Can this actually be looked at. 343 CS still haven’t answered my CS Ticket.

I have paid for Reach DLC, it is installed and downloaded. I even played half the campaign a few weeks ago - now when I log on it says it isn’t installed and that I need to buy it from the store…again (but the store recognises that it has already been purchased.

Hi,

Have reported a few minutes ago regarding other achievement and bug issues on mcc and halo 2.

Havent read your whole article in detail and fortunately i am not facing this issue.

BUT, if you dont mind and are able to take some efforts i highly recommand you not not only to fresh install your game(s) but also to setup your whole xbox in its original status. Takes time, is annoying BUT solved for me many problems!

Fresh game, fresh console, fresh updates!

Try it and let me know.

Check out also my comment on halo 2 sound issue.

Regards

You will need to install it in game and on your Xbox. To install it in game go to setting and career, chose setting, go to gameplay, and than chose “change installed games”.

Having the exact same issue. I’ve purchased the ODST DLC and was able to play for about 24 hours before it became “locked” again. Every time I try to play, it prompts me to purchase it from the Xbox Store, but the Xbox Store page informs me that it is already purchased and installed. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the DLC and the entire MCC (which of course took forever). No help.

Before someone tells me “you have to install it in the game” yes, I know how it works. Under settings>custom installation, it marks the ODST campaign as being installed. However, the game icon itself is blue with the lock icon overlaid, as if I haven’t already paid for it.

I’m having the exact same issue, if I go to manage game and add ons ODST is there under ready to install, I click it and it then moves to installed but doesn’t actually download the dlc like reach does,if I then load MCC, ODST is still shaded blue with an X through it, if I go back to manage game and add ons ODST is back in ready to install, it’s becoming frustrating now, anyone got any tips?

I just faced the same issue but after few tries it allowed me to install and play.

I have the physical version of MCC and I used to have the DLC installed with GPU but after the membership ended the DLC get locked. I bought the DLC and start MCC but when I tried to start the ODST campaign it said that I must purchased it. I checked the games installed in the setting menu and the ODST frame was blue with an X, but the campaing was marked as intalled. I check the add-on in the Manage menu of the xbox and unistalled the DLC and then download it again from the Microsoft Store. Started the MCC and checked the installed games and the ODST still was locked and now I couldn’t either check the campaing box. I reset the console vie the controller, start MCC and check inmediatly the installed games, now the ODST was unlocked and ready to install.

I know maybe you guys have already tried this, but its the way it worked for me. Hope it helps!

This is how you do it after making sure it’s installed on the Xbox just click power off then on then go into the game and go to halo 3 odst it’ll say do you want to go here you click ok then you click the square and then click accept at the bottom left and it should install an 8gb update and then bam all done
Now you wait

I just gifted the ODST DLC to my friend and this happened to him.
