Whenever I try to start up Spartan Ops in Halo 4 on my Xbox one X the game crashes and sends me back to the dashboard. This issue has been going on for at least a few weeks now and I hope 343 is aware of it and that it will be patched soon.
When I’m trying to start specific episodes of spartan ops in the Halo 4 menu of Halo MCC the game crashes and sends me back to the dashboard on my Xbox One X. I’ve tried to start episode three and this issue always happens where the game crashes and I tried some other episodes as well and the game crashed on those too. This has been an ongoing issue that happens to me ever since the reach update was released and I just wanted to make sure that 343 was aware of this and hopefully a patch will be coming soon.
I have the same problem! On my Xbox One X and also on my Xbox One Elite. I can test it with my Xbox One S on the weekend.

I’m having the exact same issue which sucks because I was about to tackle all of the spartan ops. Really hope this gets patched! I’ve already reinstalled it just to test if that would fix it, which it didn’t.
I am also having this same problem. I have re-installed the game twice and used two seperate xboxs. The xbox one original and the xbox one x and everytime I get the same problem. Where I go to spartan ops select and then freezes and kicks me back to dashboard. Hope this issue can be resolved soon.

I’ve also tried the exact same thing. Tried reinstalling on the X and on the day one edition with no luck. I have tried downloading from a disc and from game pass, but nothing seems to be helping. I’ve noticed you can get the first chapter of each episode to load by just using bumpers instead of selecting but ultimately nearly every mission is unplayable due to the game freezing on selecting and bringing you back to the dashboard with no error message.
So I’ve tried using my friend’s xbox which worked with spartan ops and it still crashes. So this issue is 100% account linked, not console linked. Most likely some problem with account syncing.
If I don’t sync the data, I can play the missions. This is definitely a profile syncing issue.
The only current solution to this is not syncing your data to play the missions and when you’re down resyncing, I’m unsure if achievements will pop though. Will keep you updated.
Yep, achievements work. The only problem is you may have to do them all at once since you can’t sync or it will break your spartan ops progress… most likely.

Other Xbox here. You can delete your sync by managing the data for the game and deleting it from your console. When the game opens, it asks to sync your data. If you cancel the sync (at any percent, it doesn’t matter when, as long as you cancel it) you are able to do spartan ops. However, your profile is incomplete… (nameplates missing, loadouts gone, playlists showing incomplete, etc.). I don’t recommend to do this with any account unless you have two Xbox consoles that could (potentially) retain the original data so that the achievements can be acquired on the non-synced data.
Ok, so with this method all the achievements will pop but the progress and functionality of spartan ops will still be a problem after you resync your game. This is currently the only way to get the spartan ops related achievements due to corrupted saves. Hopefully, 343 fixes this soon, messing around with syncs can be a real pain, especially for the average gamer. Although it’s likely they’ll only have it fixed when Halo 4 comes to PC which will be a while. Good luck with Spartan Ops!
Just going to post here to say I’m also having the same issue
Throwing in a ditto. This has been broken for me for a few weeks. Whenever I go into a menu and pick a Spartan Ops episode, MCC freezes and then crashes. I hope 343 addresses this. I have been working on my achievements, and not being able to play Spartan Ops locks out about 20 achievements.

For those who de-synced their save data, does kill progress achievements count when you resync data? For example, if I kill 500 Knights in Spartan Ops and have killed 500 Knights in my save data on the cloud, when I resync do I get the kill 1000 Knights achievement?
I submitted a ticket to 343 a month ago, and the only response I got was reinstall the game.
Please 343, a fifth of my remaining achievements are linked to Spartan Ops, I want to get all the non LASO and speed run achievements!

As long as you complete the achievement before resyncing, yes
Another de-sync question: If I am going for the beat all Spartan Ops on Legendary Solo achievement, do I need to recomplete all the episodes I have beaten synced while de-synced? I am not looking forward to playing 50 levels Legendary Solo in a single sitting.
I have yet to load a Spartan Ops level successfully while de-synced. Got to a black load screen with music, but the level never loaded. When restarting the game, I re-synced with the cloud because I was afraid of losing my save data if I loaded the local data.

Don’t know if you have to redo each one. You don’t have to do it in one sitting as long as you cancel syncs every time you get on until you finish the achievements.
