I can’t believe that this happened, but everyone who purchased this game basically paid $60 for a beta version of the game. We are quality control for this abomination. I’ve played Halo since college in '02 and am disgusted at how directly or indirectly 343 may have been…but even worse IMO they nuked any nostalgic value Halo had for returning players. On top of that I’d speculate this roll out has killed the potential new player population of this game.
But it I digress…Halo is a team game (unless you play lone wolf). With this patch I can’t search with friends to find a match. My group experimented and flew solo into matchmaking…miraculously we found games. We got together to search again…and nothing.
Everyone has an open NAT. My group has played together since '05 and never had issues in H2 or H3.
Lastly and another side note, I’m not bothering w/Halo 5. If I wanted to play a COD copycat, I’d go back and play COD. Halo 2 and 3 was/is awesome because it is different. Equal weapons, fight for neutral power weapons, and the team who can control a map will generally win the game. Bad play isn’t rewarded with miracle spawns like COD. From the H5 demo it appears 343 is making Halo like the other FPS garbage out there (see H4).
Please fix MCC. Please and thank you.
***BTW 22 hours since the patch and no update. Great business savvy, 343.
Why spend money on testing your product when you have an entire planet of people dumb enough to buy the game and test it for you? 343 is brilliant for duping the entire halo fan base into this unfair and unacceptable means of profiteering. As someone who knew a lot of the people testing the games, and spoke to most of the people that had the game pre release…why didn’t you allow those people to test for you? This game sat in a storage facility for months prior to the launch with no online testing going into it. I’m ashamed that you people considered yourselves to be true lovers of Halo. You are not worthy to stand next to this community. Drop Halo 5 so a real company can pick it up and save it.
I’m pretty sure they rushed an incomplete game so they could get it out by Halo 2’s 10 year anniversary, and figured they could fix multiplayer within a week of release. There’s no way they didn’t test and had no idea there would be connection issues ahead of time. I really wish they would have just postponed release until they could put out a finished product, yet here we are. It would be nice if they could communicate with us so we at least have an idea what’s going on.

So true Ghost! There is a huge void between PC gaming and console, and console is falling more and more behind. This is just a prime example.
My friends above you and I have been playing since Halo 2 since the day it launched. We have been hardcore loyal fans and have done everything from competitive online tournaments, to occasional mess around custom games. I can confidently say the Halo series is the BEST thing to happen to a console ever. Even with what is happening, I still believe that. With that being said, what 343 has done to a franchise that they plan on picking up and continuing with Halo 5, is just an absolute joke. Like the kind of joke you tell that is completely inappropriate and makes everyone cringe (insert racist joke here).
I would like to say first the game itself with its reworks and visual updates plays AMAZING. The fact that I can 4 shot someone halfway across Coag makes me tingle in a way I never thought I could tingle. The 60 FPS, the visual and audio updates, the fluidity of switching between games is mind blowing.
Even with all that being said, I would trade it for a matchmaking system that works. 343 you put your effort into the wrong part of the game. You made a beautiful car that has no wheels. What’s perhaps worse than all he issues is the lack of professionalism that has been put fourth by 343. After 20 hours into launch of a broken game, to wake up to a post from a 343 Employee that states “Errrrrrmaaagoooddddd srrryyyy guysssss for the issuesssss” enrages me like no other. The gigantic gaps of no updates, no signs of hope, except the solution of “if you don’t find a game after 5 mins, restart your search” BLOWS my mind.
I’ll say one last thing, if you end of fixing this game before Jesus comes back, I will play it and have the time of my life doing so, but 343 you will not get my money for Halo 5 and Microsoft you absolutely not get my money for the next Xbox.

Well said, Mazsik, on all points. It is disappointing that so many of the players you mentioned were courted to play test, but that’s it.
What the -Yoink- is wrong with these developers? They can’t even communicate with the community. This ‘patch’ is worthless, and I don’t want to hear anymore of this “PLAY CAMPAIGN” nonsense. I’ve already played the campaigns!!! FIX the Match Making!!!
At the beginning of this release 343 was blasted for lack of updates, for good reason, and then proceeded to provide some information. The fact that they have gone silent, after an awful update, scares me. By no means a fanboy, I was still holding up for this game to power through the release stage. I fear the fan base will never be the same. Maybe the issue was no DLC. Why worry about a fan base without it? The gamers need to take releases like this as an example of what loyalty gets you. Zero effort from developers.

When I saw that Twitter post I almost threw my phone. Total arrogance.
I can honestly say that I don’t play Halo for the online play but I have always been a fan of the LAN aspect of each of the games. I purchased 4 of my own xbox consoles back in the day with Halo CE. Our group of friends would spend entire weekends playing huge death matches for hours on end. This release has been so disappointing to say the least for 3 reasons.
The fact that the only way to “LAN” this game is to connect PHYSICALLY to a router and REQUIRES active internet. When playing on this so called LAN, each profile on the system that is playing has to have Live to play.
The multiplayer custom games are way to constrictive for number of players. The game only allows 2 people at MOST to play on a single console. This means that even if the local LAN play was fixed, it would take 8 systems and 4 copies of the game to play with the standard 16 player setup that Halo was built on.
The custom game “Games” are only half there. You only have the option to play custom multiplayer on Halo CE and Halo 2. Halo 3 and Halo 4 do not have an option to play custom game setups for multiplayer matches.
Don’t get me wrong, I loved the story of this game and I will possibly purchase the next in the series just to see how the story continues to progress. But let’s be honest, I honestly feel like this was a huge step back and that the assumption that these features would be already there are legit. The release is literally missing content that the original games had.
I was debating on keeping the copies that we have already purchased but at this point I am looking into just sending these back and purchasing used copies of all 4 game separately (and a copy of Reach), and I would still be saving about $10 per setup of games than paying for these single disc disappointments.
Who among you would not pay another 30$ if 343 said they had a patch that would actually make the game work? I know I would. We are all sheep! Baaaaaaaaa!

yeah and that wasn’t just any employee that was Frankie. I said the same thinhg when I first saw that “Ermahgod”. He probably shouldn’t be joking around when he sold millions a broken game
