Good LONG thread about competitive gaming in Halo!
Notes: No im not him, i just thought it was an excellent read
If you want to talk/argue about a certain topic of his, copy and paste the portion
This is also a reply to the people in these forums that say MLG’s settings have no competitive merit. Also, although he is trying to change it, MLGs playlist currently is the most reflective playlist of his ideology.
His posts are well separated and structured, so you dont necessarily have to read all of it to argue a certain point i think.
It’s a good thread, but the problem with Halo Master is that you couldnt debate with him, he would ignore counter points to his argument.
Once GoldPro started, he was nowhere to be seen, and the people in charge didnt listen to that much of the community’s feedback (slogan of the group) and not much progress was made. They had, and lost the attention of the Pros.
I’m all for no bloom being rolled out completely on Reach, but I don’t think it will ever happen. I hate how all the settings are fragmented all over the place now.
halomaster certainly knows his halo, but he seems set on making halo very tactical, like CE, kind of like a chess game.
I prefer halo to be a bit more run and gun than CE was.

Yea he has a wierd argueing style ive noticed. When you propose an argument, he doesnt disprove it but instead he backs up his argument VERY well.

I somewhat agree, he does indeed want it to be very tactical. It takes an insane amount of skill, but he seems to say that an agressive team style takes no skill, which isnt true. It takes less skill, but is not a skilless feat.

It sounds to me like he just wants Halo CE, and he is butthurt about games after that.
To be honest though, I sort of like his philosophy of is you can see someone, you should be able to kill them, but where is the strategy with that philosophy? If all players can kill anyone they see no matter what with their god cannon, and provided things were right such as movement acceleration and movement speed, all that…that would make for a very skillful game lacking strategy. Ya get me?
There needs to be a balance between this guy’s idea, and weapon niches that has been getting more and more defined since Halo 2. That way the victor is the team with skill and strategy.
I often have many ideas, suggestions, complaints, etc…but how the aforementioned can be accomplished, I myself do not know.

I have alot of trouble switching between MLG and a default playlist cuz they so different.
