Halo Master Chief to Gabriel Thorne?

I saw a post or video about perhaps Spartan-IV Gabriel Thorne becoming the new hero of legend to spear head the next generation of halo fans? Somewhere I saw or heard something about maybe Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 passing the torch over to Spartan-IV Gabriel Thorne. It does portray such things in Halo 4 prologue and Spartan Ops so who like Spartan Thorne becoming the new hero after Master Chief retires? Ask yourself this how much can one man really do in his lifetime… if too much stuff happens to Master Chief it wouldn’t feel like feats of heroics but continually trials of crap that happens to Chief…

Just a thought? but I wouldn’t mind seeing a spin-off with Thorne as a protagonist to see how fans react.

I don’t speak for everyone, but Thorne just isn’t that interesting to me. Based on Halsey’s interrogator’s questions, I feel that the UNSC/ONI will secretly find another child and put him/her through the Spartan-II procedures. Although it’ll end up much, much worse.

Thorne just seems too simple and vanilla to me.

At least he has some common sense with the whole Halsey thing though.

I dunno, while Thorne does seem more Spartan-esque in his personality than all of the other Spartan-IVs, I can’t say that I’m all too interested in having him replace John as the face of the Halo series. There’s still so much of John’s humanity that’s waiting to be revealed in future games, and Thorne lacks the massive backstory that Master Chief has.

I like Thorne, we can’t judge 100% him after one game though

I think he has potential to be great

John isn’t invincible, if he dies, who’ll take his place? (I totally want a game where I can be a Forerunner though)

The criticism of Thorne being too generic and vanilla makes me laugh considering how much Master Chief fit those criticisms early on as well. We have been given new info about Thorne and he has made a distinguished career in a relatively short time. I’m giving him a chance, I feel there is more to him than meets the eye.

And he makes a good leader. I see him with potential to at least assist Chief in some missions.

Thorn does not interest me one bit. Master chief is obviously the main character in Halo 5, and when the Master Chief dies, for me, the series dies as well.

MC is a make it or break it deal for me and a very large number of fans.

(With the exception of ODST/Reach)

Halo 5 and 6 will star Master Chief. This has been stated by 343i before. Of course, Thorne may get his own game or may play a significant role in 5 and 6 but he will not be the main character.

Chief has always been interesting, not necessarily in terms of personality, but because of his story and theoretically crumbling sanity.

There is never one main character, Johnson, Thel, even Miranda Keyes were all main characters in Halo 3 and I can see Thorne being a main character

I have no idea why people say that Thorne is more “Spartan-esque” than the other Spartan-IVs.

He’s certainly a good character, and he questions things, but he also makes some pretty wild decisions, like to go mess around with the artifact…

He’s more like a 12 year old S-II recruit than a S-II… especially when you consider how new he is to the military… I hope he’s a main character in some games, but not like a “replace the MC” type of character. More like how he was in Spartan Ops.

I’m sure he just means player character.

Reminds me of a certain Spartan who obeyed a flying lightbulb without questioning the outcomes.

LOL fair enough.

Although in MC’s case I’m sure he felt he had no other choice, although I haven’t read The Flood in ages… Thorne was doing it out of curiosity.

It’ll sure be interesting to see how Thorne progresses in the series…

MC had no real reason to believe Spark was lying.

He certainly didn’t ask questions either.

I like Thorne, but we’re not done with Chief yet. Give him his next two/three games and maybe give Thorne the co-op mode if we aren’t getting Firefight. Otherwise, he’ll have to wait in line.

Have you read the Flood? Chief had a ton of questions.
