When you get your first Halo Loot crate are you supposed to get the fireteam Apollo emblem for Halo 5?

To my knowledge, the Apollo emblem was an exclusive to the very first crate in the series. Meaning you would need the code that came in that particular crate. I’ve been a subscriber since the first crate and have the emblem, as well as the sticker shock weapon skins. Unless something has changed, pretty sure each content drop they released with the crates are specific to each indiviual crate. Maybe try amazon or something to see if you can find an unopened first Legendary Crate, or I think Loot Crate will sometimes sell individual crates from their “vault”. Hope this helps.

Any REQ pack that came with the crates had the Apollo - I waited and redeemed mine from the 3rd or 4th crate

I never got the emblem when I got a crate

You get the code to unlock the emblem and/or other exclusives on the back of the poster they give you. I couldn’t find it either my first crate.

I looked on the back and there was no code for the emblem.
