Halo Legends

Im sure this has been asked before but how much of Halo Legends is canon? Obviously Odd One Out is not but what about the others? Are they all canon? Even the artist styles, such as Halsey’s apparent age in The Babysitter?

Not all of the the visuals are entirely canonical. In the commentaries for the DVDs, 343 stated that they gave these anime production companies lots of artistic license and left a lot up for interpretation. A couple of good examples of what I’m talking about come through Origins and The Duel.

There’s a lot of visual discrepancies in Origins, but the over all story it tells is mostly accurate. 343 allowed Studio 4°C to have some leniency with the depictions of things. And this was rationalized in the universe by a borderline rampant Cortana being the one interpreting the events. And as for Production I.G’s The Duel, Fal 'Chavemee’s wife, Han, is a contentious issue. She looks less like a Sangheili female, and more like a human or San’Shyuum. This resulted from the fact that 343 wanted her to appear more sympathetic; her design probably isn’t entirely canonical for female Sangheili.

So in short, the events of every episode is canon (excluding Odd One Out), except some of the visuals may not be or they’re left up to interpretation by the viewer. Surely ODSTs won’t really be allowed to have crazy anime hair and Elite females aren’t going to look like humans. At the end of the day, it doesn’t make sense to hire these anime production companies just to order them not to deviate from every detail in the Halo games. I’m sure 343 wanted to create quality anime just as much as they wanted to create interesting stories in the Halo universe.

Yes its canon especially Origins.

They are except Odd one Out.

Pretty much this.

Halsey wasn’t in the babysitter, she was in the package

Homecoming too.

The only canonically correct one I can think of is The Duel, Lore-wise.

They’re all canonically correct. Visual license is another issue entirely.

Everything BUT ODD ONE OUT. Sorry 1337.

Oh that’s right, which one was The Babysitter again?

Edit: Nevermind, that’s the one with the ODSTs on an assassination mission.

The Babysitter and The Prototype were two of my favorites from that.

I loved them all but if I had to rank them Babysitter and Prototype take the top with Homecoming not far behind.

Canon with heavy artistic license.

Origins in particular should be looked at as an overall summary, but the exact depictions of specific events should be taken with a grain of salt.
