Hi, this is my first post so sorry if this has been asked many times. Im kinda new to the series (only played multiplayer on halo 5). Now that I got an xbox I decided to play the campaigns and challenged myself to play them blindly on legendary lol. So in this post I wanted to ask if there are “best weapon” combination in each game or certain tactics. Rn im at halo 1 second mission and my strategy is magnum for grunts and needler for elites.
Thanks in advance! n_n
You’ll want a plasma weapon for dealing with shields and the magnum for dishing out headshots for halo CE.
For shielded enemies like Elites, nothing beats the n00b combo: overcharged Plasma Pistol followed by Magnum. Keep a shotgun handy whenever you get a hold of one.
Any more tips might wade into spoiler territory, but the above should be enough to get you started. Once you get through CE, you’ll have a great understanding of Halo in general and you should be good to go for the other games
Hope you enjoy your Great Journey!
Plasma + precision weapon for shielded enemies.
Shotguns and plasma weaponry for flood
Plasma weapons are good against the machine-type enemies in CE, and 2. (needler is pretty good too)
Take your time on legendary, unless you are planning on being a speedrunner
Hunters in CE (shoot them in the back with the magnum) other games explosives and shots to the back
Power weapons can be extremely useful in certain situations, use them wisely
If you’re playing through them on legendary just take your time and have a Plasma Pistol to get past sheilds and go for head shots oh yeah also in halo 2 legendary watch out for sniper jackals they will take you out almost instantly
For weapon load outs
CE- Plasma Rifle/Magnum or a sniper if you can pull off the infinite ammo reload glitch but it’s recommend to use a shotgun against flood
Halo 2- Battle Rifle, Carbine/Plasma Pistol
Once you learn the Battle Rifle/plasma pistol combo well or enemy spawns most of the game is a breeze excluding the boss fight with unlimited elites, honestly my favorite legendary
Halo 3- Battle Rifle, Carbine/ any plasma weapon or a needler, almost anything works in H3 or H4 legendary
Halo Reach- DMR, Needler/ plasma weapon
Halo 3 ODST- Auto Mag, Carbine/Plasma Rifle
Good luck with the legendary run, it’s a fun but long one
In general, keeping turrets useable is a good way to get easy kills.
The attack range of NPCs may or may not be tied with the weapon or vehicle they are using, Wraiths are good at this on all games.
In Combat Evolved, grenades can help at taking out unsuspecting enemies without giving away your position, the explosion alert all NPCs within range but after a while it’s possible they resume patrolling (or Grunts sleeping) , they are less likely to try to avoid a grenade when they aren’t engaging.
They also tend to draw their eyes (again, when not engaging) so it’s possible to have a Hunter show his back. Elites like to yell something even when they aren’t in a position to see the grenade.
Elites themselves are very vulnerable to Plasma Grenades since they always knock out shields like the overcharged shot of a Plasma Pistol, they also have enough power to kill them if it’s close enough.
In Halo 2, Elites not in cover or in the air always flinch when shot by a sniper weapon.
Holograms in Reach are a sure way to stop an Elite or a Brute if used very close to them because it will trigger 2 animations (surprised and angry) where they are completely harmless. It only works once on the same enemy.
Rangers and Spec Ops never become angry but there are exceptions.
Thank you all for the tips n_n tried the plasma pistol and is awesome for elites I always use the overcharge and then stick a grenade to them (I still hate the red ones tho, theyre soooo aggresive). My only complain is… WHY DO THE JACKAL SHOOT SO FAST? its even funny how fast they shoot lol its like they have machine guns. On a side note, im kinda regretting playing the campaign on legendary first time haha, mission 5 was the hardest mission ive ever played on a videogame, I even skipped some areas using invisibility because it was too much for me. (now at mission 6 with the zombies)
And the part where two guys were shooting at me from another bridge… oh god I cant imagine how more hellish it would have been if I didnt save my rocket launcher for emergencies, It took me like 2 and a half hours to beat the level
