halo lacks advanced movement options

there are only two options you have for moving in halo, walk, jump. (thank god they added sprint). i want to see more, i think it would add a lot of flavor to gameplay. rolling would be a good one, allow your spartan to roll or dive to cover when underfire, or out of the way right as that sword lunge is going to hit. going prone is another good one, you sacrifice mobility to make yourself a smaller target. good for sniping. wall hugging, heres another. wall hugging allows you to get a clear shot or look around a corner while exposing as little of yourself as possible; wall hugging would be good. climbing is another i thought of. although vernerable while doing so, if you successfully climb it can give you an advantageous position. it all makes sense too, you can bet spartan supersoldiers would be doing all these in a fight, while adding a whole extra layer of strategy to the game.

This isn’t Battlefield. We don’t need anything but moving and jumping. Sprint isn’t even necessary; in fact, sprint is a detriment.

no some of those will abuse it wall hugging remember gears some one with a shotgun or a bolt shot will know ur comeing and bam your dead.

Power slide, demote & emotes, other bull do hickies… ect.

Eh, why not. Would certainly make Machinimas, Custom Games, and what not more interesting.

I do not condone this idea going directly into Matchmaking though. Having “Advanced Movement”-On/Off as an option in Customs would be great though.

Evade

I hope 343 doesn’t get any ideas from this post for Halo 5.

we need Moas :3

Why? Is there some problem these options would cause if added to the game? As long as 343 doesn’t put them in every MM playlist they’re harmless.

Exactly.

Just keep buying assassins creed. If it keeps leaping through time like it is it will inevitabley end up in the future and be an FPS with everything you are asking for and more. But Halo should just stay Halo.

we agree on a lot man.

not to say it would’nt take plenty of tweeking and balancing to implement. if it was though advanced movements would add a lot to halo.

FPS games do not incorporate 3rd person game properties well, without the entire game system being molded around it.

No thank you.

If 343 were to give the fans the ability to create such features, then would it be okay? Let them do it and it can’t possibly effect the entire way the game plays.

Honestly, I think advanced fighting mechanics would be awesome too. Why does everyone have to assume it would be in MatchMaking or the game would revolve around it?

im not advocating turning halo into a 3 rd person shooter, just a brief 3rd person view while performing these actions. such as when you thruster pack or pick up a turret or operate a ghost.

I get that, but it feels too much like trying to mix CoD and Mass Effect qualities into Halo.

I don’t think the control style of Halo needs to change that much.

Why though? I feel as though this would have been a much more welcomed change in comparison to Reach/H4’s “change”.

Like 343 hasn’t done that already with Halo 4? I would like to at least have the good features those games had as an option.

Honestly, what’s the harm in a cover system/advanced movements/advanced fighting mechanics as an optional feature in Custom games? The Killball can mess things up in the middle of a matchmaking game, but nobody complains about it in Forge and Customs.

All of the listed options are gimmicks. Halo is not a cover-based shooter. It doesn’t need prone or cover-to-cover fighting.

Just like sprint, it is not something that is Halo.
