Halo + Kinect ?

I just saw this Yesterday at Comic-Con in New York, 343 Industries who took over from Bungie announced that the Halo Universe will be receiving Kinect support. Kinect will be used for various things like shouting commands, reloading and throwing grenades. There is also a confirmed Analyse Mode whereby you scan in game objects by shouting the word scan which are then added to a library of objects and facts from the game. Personally, this just seems like another way for Microsoft to cram Kinect down our throats and seems a tad unnecessary for a game like Halo which has stood well on its own with just the use of a controllerIs that true are you really going to do that? I really think that’s a bad idea. I guess if its optional then it’s not a big deal. I don’t see too many people using this though

Kinect + Halo = immersion

I’ll use it for the Library mode and graphic changes, but probably not so much for the grenades or reloading. I’ve already got the controls down, so there’s no need to yell them out, but I might mess around with it to see how it works. We’ll probably see something like this implemented into H4 as well, depending on how this goes.

> Kinect + Halo = immersion

lolno

How is yelling “grenade” or “reload” immersive?

Immersion is being involved in the game. Yelling “Reload” and “Grenade” (While not actual combat situations) make you become involved in the game at a higher level than just pushing a button.

How bad do you think Kinect + Online MM would be?

> Yelling “Reload” and “Grenade” (While not actual combat situations) make you become involved in the game at a higher level than just pushing a button.

So how exactly did you come to that conclusion?

So bad I’m not even going to think about it.

OK then, what’s your definition of “Immersion?” You’re the one denying the claim, so back up your claim.

Plot hole! they didn’t have a Kinect!

My definition is the same as yours. I’m just wondering how you decided that yelling voice commands is more involving than pressing a button.

It is just what people want to say to justify buying an awful device like the Kinect.

Stop mindlessly attacking the kinect spartan ken.

Stop mindlessly defending kinect erickyboo!

It’s hardly surprising that they’ve done this, and to answer your question Ken, I can pretty much guarantee they won’t be releasing a TU to allow non-Kinect owners to use this.

If I was you I’d just be grateful they didn’t attach achievements to it.

I very much doubt we’ll see the new Waypoint Mobile features on anything other than WP7 too, it’s the way MicroSoft operate.

Stop mindlessly arguing about the Kinect!

343i has me believing that Halo4 and Kinect will have me interacting with Forerunner AIs and using my suit as if I was in the suit itself and before the AIs themselves.

I like I said, please let ATLAS be PC compatible too. Go for your exclusivity with a Windows phone as the only type of phone capable, but let us have the PC variant too.

Have they said whether it will work with a Windows tablet PC? I’m looking to buy a tablet soon and this would tempt me away from the iPad2.
