You lost me at this part. I realized probably everything else you’ll say would be an irrelevant unpopular opinion… and I was right
Yea, I can agree at least somewhat there. I see how others think it’s mechanics made it not play like a Halo game, but I didn’t think that was true. Because everyone has equal starts, I eventually decided I really liked H5’s gameplay, and I think it has the highest skill gap out of any Halo.
And then the pure variety of 4v4 ranked, 4v4 social, BTB, Warzone (+Assault), and Warzone firefight… it was just impossible to get bored with the game because there was so much to do.
Predicting what your fan base will and won’t like must be hard. Even if you ask them, they probably won’t know for sure until they try it.
Changing too much at the same time seems to increase the chance of a negative reaction as well.
You have like 90% stupid ideas, and 1% good one. the other 9% are just extra stupid like Master chief swimming.
Ill take this tho, a challenging firefight for top tier PVE Halo players is an idea I haven’t thought of before
I’ve never really played either of them, so I’m not actually sure this assumption of mine is true…
I think this is what Bungie was basically trying to do with Destiny raids. Even as a non-destiny player i remember the hype around teams trying to be the first to beat the Destiny raids. Or the fastest. Or the first solo. Etc…
I’m not sure if they have actual keyboards, or just random “internet street cred” though lol
Thats why Halo takes it slow, which I think is a good idea. Grappleshot for example, even tho its not original, its a small change that people love or at least me lol
If anything halo died because it changed too much, far too much
Halo lost its identiy ten years ago and started chasingf trends instead of being halo, fast forward through the debacles that were H4 H5 and the MCC and we come here, where 343i realises (too late) that they should at least try to inject a little bit of halo back into halo forgeting that most of the old school traditional halo fans left ages ago.
343i manged to make the same mistake twice ten years apart
H4 tried to be somehitng other than Halo
as a result the game wasn’t halo enough for the halo fans but not cod enough for the cods fans and susquently both player bases abandoned the game faster than a dry needle sheding xmas tree on Dec 26th and things just snowballed with H5 further alienating playes who had been with the franchise since the beginning
now with infinite
they tried to bring a alittle bit of halo back in Infinite forgeting that their core followers (the ones that were left) didn’t like Old school halo, they liked H4 and H5 and not Infinite wasn’t like those games anymore.
And of course the old school fans who did come back, well the games been a content waste land for the first year and a half so most of them have moved on as well…
Halo changed too much with the times, turned into something it never intended to be and in the end alienated narly every dan of the series both new and old…
The ones that left because thay didn’t like Old halo are no were near to the amount of old Halo fans that quit in Halo 4 and 5.
This is truly unreal that someone went this far into putting this all together.
Gotta say that’s the first time I’ve ever heard anyone say each 343 release is more classic feeling than the previous. Thanks for the laugh.
I mean, at least I included summary reasons why instead of an empty post with no real thoughts
.
Would you like, for example, to try and make the argument that H4 has more classic gameplay than H5? Good luck ![]()
It’d say its about the same in non-classicness, just a bit different in approach. Sure, h5 had equal starts, but it also added a host of new abilities that completely change gameplay. Both games overloaded the player with starting abilities, with h5 arguably giving more, and ones that deeply effect how the game is played at its core.
h5 just followed the advanced mobility trend that was popular around 2015, just as h4 followed the cod clone trend.
The problem is they DID change. Got away from the core game aince halo 1 2 and 3. If they never make a battle royal who cares that wasnt halo. Now everything needs to be a copy and paste of other games. Battle pass pay to play. You cant even see your opponents ranks before you play. Anything to prevent intimidation because people just cant handle confrontation. Same with no proximity chat. Nopeee cant talk after the game people may get their feelings hurt. Gtfo with this Woke bs agenda. Bring the early 2000s back
Part of what makes me hate Halo Infinite is BECAUSE it’s modernized. My man, if I could get a Halo title that actually cared about the legacy of its previous titles, I’d friggin’ buy everything they threw at me. We have a love/hate relationship with Infinite because the core gameplay is perfect but everything around it is chalk-full of fixable issues that bog down the overall enjoyment of this series. ESPECIALLY the new things they added to “modernize” the experience. Exhibit A: the store and mtx. Exhibit B: vehicle placement. Exhibit C: every damn thing being tuned for “competitive play”. Graphics are great. The core gameplay is the best it’s ever been. The sound design is phenomenal. Everything else is hot garbage.
Also, if you want a one-hit kill sniper, take the Skewer. It’s easier to use, and acts as a reliable vehicle-killer–particularly against fliers.
Speak for yourself never speak for others spartan.
For example I would argue the core gameplay was a step in the right direction but far from perfect.
I don’t agree with some things, especially when it comes to “copying” stuff that we have seen like in CoD or in other FPS (like swimming???). Halo 4 and Halo 5 both proved that Halo does not need to copy.
But I agree that 343 should use the Halo sandbox to make more creative weapons, vehicles and abilities.
I shared the same idea you had about the jumping mongoose. I like how the one in Infinite works, but the risk of using it is high and the reward is low, unless it’s the gungoose. Yeah, I would add a jump for the mongoose.
