When Halo 2 came out people cried that halo ce was better. When Halo 3 came out people cried that 2 was better. When reach came out people cried that 3 was better. 4 just came out and people say that reach is better.
This is a growing trend I noticed not just with halo but with other popular franchises like the elder scrolls.
> > What a complete disappointment halo 4 is. I never thought I would say it but Reach is far better. I find myself wondering if I even did the right thing spending 60 pounds on the limited version. So much is wrong with it I just dont know where so start. Campaign for the most part is a nice mix of combat evolved and halo 3 other than that the game just has zero appeal for me to continue playing it. Halo mm is now completely dead. Firefight was so much better than spartan ops and whilst ok may have been a noob fest with rocket spammers atleast it was better than the rubbish 343 have offered us. How can Bungie stand back and see what used to be such an awesome flag ship game for the xbox turned into nothing more than a soiled memory. I am a 2x inheritor on halo reach. I played so much I have 2 online lgit inheritor ranks. I dont ever see myself playing halo 4 longer than doing legendary campaign. As a huge halo fan since ce days this really annoys me. I was so looking forward to this game and the call of halo thing that it has turned out to be just doesnt cut it. I dont care honestly if I get hated for my comments I needed to have my say. I am so sick of this game after less than a week that I never see myself playing another halo game. Halo as far as I am concerned is now dead. Thank you 343 for killing my favourite console game. I really hope the mods here dont just lock and delete this thread. I know 343 never visit the forums but I hope to god someone sees this post. 343 learn from your mistakes halo is not call of duty of modern warfare. halo is halo please remeber that next time or I fear you will lose even more fans in the future.

and i looked at yours… Mr. 1.02 KDR… hahaha.
jk buddy, i agree with you! No one should judge the game without having played it.
As someone who’s spent over 2000 hours playing the halo franchise over various accounts I can soundly tell you that 343 has ruined our beloved halo franchise.
6 hour campaign
barely any multiplayer playlists at launch
A horrid xp cap
Horrible forge maps
Completely neglecting the racing and forging community
File browser doesn’t work
I get xp banned for letting my little brother play while I’m at work
The list goes on and on, any seasoned halo player will tell you this is one of the worst halos to date. I want to defend this game and say its great but they’ve really neglected and disappointed a lot of us.

I am a seasoned halo player and i think this is the 2nd best halo so far after halo 2.
Yes, this will be a huge wall of text, but at least mine is justified cause I read every post and have a lot to catch up on. I know I haven’t really posted on here at all and people will knock me for being a “noob” on the site, but I haven’t really had to come here that often and when I have, I’ve never really posted anything. That being said, I’d like to point out a couple things.
OP, what have you said that’s “insightful” from your original topic or anything that you’ve said after that? I haven’t once read why you think it’s a bad game, other than it doesn’t sound right or the looks are a bit weird. I personally love this game and have been playing since Halo 1 when some friends and I would pile in front of the TV and split screen. I’ve been on Halo MM since about 6 months after Halo 2 came out. I was there at launch for Halo 3. I was a bit behind with Reach by a few months (school and general life issues) and was decent on several accounts on every single game (don’t bother looking up the stats for any of them, I’ve changed too many times to know which was the best account and what the overall stats were for everything combined) and I’ve purchased every single DLC for every game (save the Halo Wars DLC, never got into it). But out of all of them, Halo 4 is definitely better than Reach and potentially better than 3. Halo 2 was probably the best and I’m glad that several maps made it back in the Anniversary map pack. The only reason Halo 1 doesn’t take the crown for best multiplayer is because it only had LAN and split screen support (unless you played it on PC, but support for the Halo franchise on the PC has been lacking since Halo 2). All that aside, Halo 4 is potentially the (second) best because they actually made Armor Abilities balanced. The weapons sound better (the BR is a bit odd, but I like that you can hear when the clip is almost empty). The design for the levels (other than Valhalla’s remake Ragnorak) are very balanced and make for quick but fair gameplay. The ranking system, while simple, provides a goal for people while they wait for skill ranks to show up. And to the person that said “too easy to get to 50 in a week” it was kinda by design. They have 130 ranks for you to get through. 1-50 and 8 specialisations with 10 ranks each. 50 isn’t anything special now and was never meant to be for this game.
I’m slightly disappointed in the people that call themselves Halo fans but never looked up which games were made by whom. Granted, I believe 343 worked on the Anniversary map pack, they had nothing to do with Reach until the change over. They did work with Bungie on Halo 3 and I’m pretty sure they helped with some of the maps for that, but they didn’t develop any of the games themselves until now. They re-skinned Halo: CE for Anniversary, but that’s not the same as building a whole new game from the ground up like they did for Halo 4.
My reasons for liking the multiplayer:
The levels are fair (other than Ragnorak, as I mentioned)
The weapon choices are limited for load outs (that may seem like a negative, but I would rather not have someone with a SAW or Sniper as their default weapon)
Abilities are balanced
Weapon drops aren’t timed nor specific to one location, as well as the same weapon won’t drop every time.
Gameplay is quick
No respawn time is only applicable to Slayer. Objective gametypes usually have a delay timer for respawn
Sprint by default is something that was needed since it was introduced in Reach (That was the only load out I ever used and I still did better than 80% of the people I played against)
Things I don’t like about this game (not many reasons, I just wanted to be fair and not only say it’s the best without showing what I don’t like about it)
Lack of support for playlist variations (Snipes, SWAT, BTB Objective, etc.)
The Needler. It either needs to go or be more balanced. Granted it was annoying as hell in Halo 3, I could at least dodge it from time to time. Now it tracks you around a corner, goes super slow and turns on a dime.
The Promethean shotgun needs to have a bit more power to it. I’m shooting 3 times and barely getting the kill when the human shotty only takes 1 from a farther distance.
Ragnorak needs to lose the Mantis or the Banshee. It can’t have both because if one team is controlling both of theirs (or yours) plus a warthog and a power weapon, it’s a one sided fight. I refuse to play that map on any game mode now until that gets fixed.
The DMR is a bit powerful, even at close range. The BR is supposed to beat it mid-close and I’m a really good shot (most of the time) but I lose to it more often than I’d expect. However, when I switch to the DMR, I can’t beat any BR at any range (could be because of lag compensation?)
Unable to leave a party unless you go to something else like the Campaign and back out again (it’s just annoying, not that it effects gameplay)
None of those reasons for not liking it are enough to justly say that it’s a bad game and they’re specific to my personal preferences or opinions. If you don’t agree on that point, then sod off.
Nothing really, I just wanted to see if anyone actually managed to read all that. I know it’s a lot, but I had a lot to say since I was late to the party. I will say that I find it odd that I don’t get kicked out of my scope. Anyone else have that issue? I know they mentioned that it was going to be one of the classes, but I’m doing it now. I switched immediately to Bumper Jumper and Hold to Crouch as soon as I got the game, so maybe that caused it to happen?
Zomg1 a prsn tht typs lyk dey no wht there sayin! (Sorry, had to say that since I saw a lot of atrocious grammar and spelling errors)

First time I’m doing this, but I had to. Seasoned Halo players don’t have stats like yours, I’m sorry. If you think you’re seasoned and still think this game is Halo, I can honestly say I’ve lost Faith in competitive Halo.

I dont know about you guys but I think I see a pattern here. Needs more investigation to be sure.
