Halo is now dead :(

Well thats exactly it. I did find myslef playing reach today. I have several good games of swat and firefight and yes I know theres an update to put the swat gametype in halo 4 but this is my point…why if halo 4 is such a good game do I find myslef wanting to play halo reach. honestly I have had it since tuesday and am only on lvl 5 in camapign. I dont even feel bothered to finish the story. Yes I have played freakin war games or whatever its now called and spartan ops so I do know what I am missing or not missing in this case. Anyway guys to those that replied seriously thank you  I am of to bed its 6am in the uk. I will reply to this thread in a few hours I hope it gets more serious…? I understand everything in life changes you dont grow older without realising this but I just wish that some of halo had remaind the same. its like waking up next 2 your boyfriend and they have turned into a different person. u miss who they were you dont want this new thing that was nothing like the last.

As someone who’s been playing Halo since CE and done pretty much everything from wacky custom games in H2 to forging crazy racetracks in H3 and competing at a few tourneys (including MLG Columbus) I must disagree with you, OP.

This game (apart from a few custom options being omitted) is pretty much the most fun I’ve had playing since H2. It has that same replayability that most people, except for a few including you, missed in Reach, which will lend to 100k players online for years to come.

343 also seems to care about the community, though the only thing I have to go on is them giving us MLG-ers No-Bloom options in Reach. Give them time: I am confident they’ll listen to most of our input (and maybe even care).

> I couldn’t help but notice that it seems it’s always the recruits who are complaining about Halo 4…

Probably because we’ve never had a problem with a halo game in the past to come here and post about. Now that we have gripes we’re being flamed. I’ve been playing since day 1 of Halo:CE, and I’m sure lots of recruits have. Just because people don’t care about a forum doesn’t mean they are noobs, maybe they’ve been living their lives and playing Halo instead of posting on a forum. I’m active in other places, and 343 just started this forum just a few years ago? Your post was insulting honestly. How about adding something to the conversation since you’re been on the forum for long enough you should know that’s what it’s here for.

The one and only trully great thing 343 have done is bring back a 6 player free for all. %his is what killed reaches mm for me and is the reaons i stuck to firefight and swat. * am thankful for the 6 player and soon to be rank free 4all that is all.

“Halo” as we knew it (1,2,3) was a road along the edge of a cliff.

Reach turned the wheel towards the edge.
Halo 4 slammed on the gas.

You didn’t even say what was wrong with Halo 4… If you’re talking about the bugs in the game, that’s temporary. If not then I don’t know what you’re talking about. Halo 4 still feels like a Halo game despite some CoD inspirations.

Boohoo. Cry me a river.

Ok well this is all great but apart from defending halo 4 and telling me what a blam I am. saying that reach was driving towards a cliff and halo 4 slammed on the gas. I repeat my anserw if halo 4 is so good tell me why…? tell me what u like about it and dont just defend it.

I really do think halo needed to be more sped up and “CODified” if you will to make it fun, I was a massive fan of halo 3 but when reach came out i turned to call of duty as halo was just to slow and boring in comparison. Halo 4 is a really good game and i love the speed at which it plays although it may not be as good as the original games, i find it much better than reach.

I wondered how long it would take for one of these to pop up.
As usual, nothing important. Carry on

Cute metaphor, but imo it’s more like
“Reach turned the wheel to the edge and H4 pulled an e-brake 270 and put us back on the right track.”

3/10.

I would have given you a 2, but you get extra points for really committing to your role of idiotic rambling troll.

Hey Op, the Forerunners called, they want their section of the Sentinel Wall back.

loved halo 3. hated halo reach. like halo 4.
Have you even played it? ahaha. All the side stuff doesnt effect gameplay nearly as much as you might think. AAs have a much smaller role in gameplay even.

And keep in mind i argued for the competitive side when halo reach was out and halo 4 was in development.

The Movement Speed
The Weapon Balance
The Grenade Damage/Radius
The Campaign Pacing
The Lack of Bloom On Most Weapons
The Jump Height
The Gravity
Ordinance Drops
Not having to purchase armor
Instant spawn
The weapon sounds
The look and feel of all the vehicles.

Basically everything, but if you’d like a list of things in Halo 4 I don’t like it’s much shorter: you.

Guys guys guys guys guys …
there are plenty of reasons why the game is great in regards to an earlier post…

a)its a ton of fun, much funner than reach
b)it sounds great
c)it looks great
d)its nice and smoothe
e)most importantly its fun

there are undeniably a few things wrong with it, the dmr seems like the go to gun, kill times are a little quick, but i think kill times are so much quicker because if instant spawn…which should be addressed…when you get a triple kill you should have a second to breathe, not get killed by the first person you killed in the tripple kill. I got a killtacular yesterday in infinity slayer because i kept killin them with mah shotty and they just kept spawning and running towards me. It seems unfair.

Can’t say we didn’t see any of these coming. Honestly, I loved Reach and Halo 3. Granted, I never played Halo 2 online, i wish I did though :frowning: But seriously, I find this the most addictive since Halo 3.
Your complaints about campaign are just perplexing, I think the pace was perfet, and the way 343 was able to intertwine a smaller personal story into the larger story arc with the Didact was superbly done.
Spartan Ops is ambitious, and with only one episode out, I don’t think it’s a right time to judge. I’d say wait for a few more episodes.
As for War Games, I absolutely love it. Though I do have some complaints about weapons, and how there’s no weapons on maps except for ordinance drops and the starting power weapons, I think it’s the best of the one’s I’ve played.

The problem with making gameplay changes is that you inevitably can’t please everyone. With every iteration of Halo I have seen people declare the franchise dead, and yet still it is going strong. Why? Because for every person who leaves, another one (or more) start playing.

Personally, I haven’t always agreed with changes made between games. Most notably, I found Halo 3’s online multiplayer abhorrent. I didn’t dismiss this as a failing of the series, though - in the end, as I said, you can’t please everyone. The changes made in Halo: Reach brought me back to multiplayer for a few months. Finally, I was very skeptical of Halo 4, but now that it’s out all of my fears have been dismissed. I’m having an absolute blast with the game.

343i wasn’t afraid to change things up, which is great. Yes, there are some Call of Duty elements that they integrated into the gameplay. So what? Inevitably, games within a genre build upon each other. Call of Duty and a whole lot of other shooters took a leaf out of Bungie’s book and used a two-weapon system and regenerating health, which Halo: Combat Evolved popularized. Now, the reverse has happened. Claiming that Halo is a Call of Duty clone is ridiculous, however. Yes, the two games share gameplay mechanics. As first person shooters, it’s inevitable. The way some people complain I wouldn’t be surprised to hear “both games use guns and bullets! They’re the exact same!”

Putting different mechanics together in order to try and make the best experience possible is a great thing to do. 343i’s biggest test moving forward will be to continually evolved the multiplayer, rather than letting it stagnate with minor changes like CoD’s multiplayer has. This is the great thing about the Halo franchise to me - the multiplayer, while always recognizable at its core, always provides a different experience in each game. This helps keep things fresh, and while some people might not always be happy (as happened to me when the Halo 2 servers got shut down), that change is a good thing. If Bungie or 343i never took a leaf from other FPS games, then we would still have the same old Halo 2 multiplayer. It was fun 7 years ago, and I do get nostalgic about it from time to time. But would I want to be playing the same thing every year with the only change being updated graphics? Hell no. Ironically, this is what Call of Duty is most often criticized for.

Just my opinion. At the very least, I hope you enjoy single player - it’s still too early for me to accurately judge it, but I think it might be the best Halo campaign yet.

> For me Halo 2 and 3 never sucked and Reach still sucks.

TRUTH! I’m having a blast with Halo 4!

> Halo 4 is one of the most fun first person shooters i’ve ever played. This is coming from a huge Gears Of War fan.

dont even get me started on the gears of war franchise
