Halo is nothing without it's community

If my OP doesn’t work. hell at least I tried.

Halo has been a superb franchise since 2001. Everyone who knows Halo, has played Halo or even knows of Halo CE, regardless of what Halo you started knows this. Every Halo has had it’s competitive scene, friends competing with eachother over Halo CE lan parties, and having fun doing it. Halo 2 had it’s casual and it’s competitive scenes, remember how many tournaments were televised, back when Halo 2 entered MLG? Remember how many viewers it had? Some of the top teams I remember were Ogre 1 & 2, STR8 RIPPIN, and Carbon. How about the midnight releases, how many people gathered at Gamestop, EB Games, wherever! Halo has had many unique things about it, it’s gameplay, its Campaign, the community.

The three weeks of suspension, I had didn’t keep me from these forums. I went into the GDC thread that’s gotten over 120 pages, which made my jaw drop. There are people who defend Halo 4, my sister, defends it against what I say. Halo lost it’s community with Halo 4, people that were unsatified, traded it in, sold it. The remainder of the community is on these forums, it’s the 30k, 40k people that still play it. Now we have AGL, UMG who are trying to revive competitive Halo, UMG soley hosted COD tournaments and for them to pick up Halo 4, for me, thats a miracle in itself. It tells me, it tells people or it should tell people that Halo hasn’t been given up yet, and some of us aren’t going to give up on it. Halo has always had something, for the casuals, and the competitives. We have developers in 343 that have played Halo, but have never worked on it. The Mods had a point in one thread, where they had stated, if you want a Halo 4 to look like a core Halo game, then show 343 by going back and playing the previous Halos that had Halo’s core. APK(I think he said it), stated that attacking 343 isn’t going to do anything, and said to look at THC and not do what they do.

If people want a Core Halo, a proper sequel to Halo 3 in terms of matchmaking, people have to show they want it, the community has to make a movement, to tell 343, express to them that this isn’t the Halo we have known, but this is. Halo 3 had a beta when Bungie released it, that alone turned Halo 3 into s game that reigned for 4 straight years, not only because of Bungie, but because of the communinty that helped form it. Reach wasn’t a successful Halo game, people know it and now Halo 4 is trailing behind a title that was released 2 years ago. I don’t want Halo to fail, none of us do. But the community expressing themselves to 343 is what alone will make Halo 5 a success. The community working with not only the ex-Bungie devs but the devs that have come from different franchises to work on Halo 4 will shape Halo 5. That GDC thread alone expressed what dissatifaction people have with Halo 4, and recieved over 200 thanks I believe. People want a beta for Halo 5, people have to express that. Look what the WoW community, they work with Blizzard. Blizzard was going to reset Valor Points in WoW and they didn’t because of the community. It’s the same with Halo 4. People want the traditional Halo experience, people want a Core Halo, then express it, play Halo 3, go into Ranked, go into Social. Halo 5 being a success is what will bring the community back that was lost. It’ll bring Halo back to MLG, which is what some people want. It can even fix Halo 4, and bring it back to life, but not without an attempt from the community itself.

It starts with the community, it starts with the fans. It starts with expressing the want for a Core Halo experience and if playing the original trilogy or even Reach is how to do it then so be it. It’s not “Help us Help you 343”, it’s not “Trust Us” Its the community working with the Game Dev to bring their game back to life.

It starts with everyone.

And what should the part of the community do who like this game?

F off?

At this point I’d rather learn to cope with Halo PC’s lag than keep waiting for the game to get better.

In fact, laggy as it is, it’s still an enjoyable game. Now if only Steam would hurry up and greenlight MurderMiners already.

Or just keep enjoying the game until it dies? Why are you in this thread exactly?

Never said that, if you like Halo 4 the continue playing it. I never said anyone couldn’t like the game. Did you even read my OP? I clearly said that there are people who defend the game. I never stated there was anything wrong with defending the game did I? Don’t twist my OP into something it’s not please.

> Or just keep enjoying the game until it dies? Why are you in this thread exactly?

Because I don’t like people “speaking for the community” who clearly don’t speak for all of it.

Yea pretty much.

He speaks for me, he speaks for people who have grievances with the game.

Nor did he ever claim to speak to everyone.

Now kindly leave and go back to killing people with your ordnances and what-not.

My point is, I and others do NOT want Halo to return to what it was in 3. So you’re asking the community to take that direction for Halo 5, but that’s kinda the opposite of where I’d like to see it go. I left Halo for years because I was tired of that kind of system. I came back because of Halo 4 being different.

Returning to the old system is just a negative that would stop me from buying the next game.

Who the hell said I was speaking for everyone? I didn’t say We, I didn’t say Us, I said people, and that can amount to Casual or Competitive.

No.

Funny, how you say that Halo is made by the community but also contradict yourself.

Whatever, I’ll just be silent for a little while and chime in later when someone else has a chance to talk about something other than me.

The OP has a point though.

Ok I take it you didn’t read my entire OP. When did I say, like Halo 3? I said a proper sequel to Halo 3 in terms of matchmaking. I never stated a complete carbon copy. A proper sequel meaning improved mechanics but also new ones at the same time.

Where exactly did I do that? Halo 4 was made by 343 with little support from the community. Halo 3 had a lot of support from the community with Bungie working with them.

True Bungie was more community oriented.

I’m not going to lie. Halo 3 when it came out was all well and good and I loved it, but at this point I’d rather play other things because I don’t think of that game as highly as some of you. If I was going back to a previous title I’d go back to Reach before I went to 3 and if the servers were up Halo 2 would be in the tray be fore 3 as well. I like Halo 4 despite some of its flaws and overall I think it’s a better game than Halo 3. But hell that’s just my opinion if you guys want to go back and play that good luck to you and have fun.

That is fine, but the things I like in Halo 4 are things they removed from the game like placed weapons and Social/Ranked lists. I also like Loadouts, being able to take out a vehicle without searching all over the map for a PP/grenade and being cut down 20 times, I like AA’s and Ordnance.

What I want for Halo 5 is to refine this system, not return to the old system.

You ask for a proper sequel, I think we have one. Its not perfect in its current form, but that can change.

Nothing wrong with liking the game the way it is now, but its not the Halo core that made Halo so popular. Why do you think the population is pathetic?(for halo standards) Im sorry you didnt enjoy Halo when it was…well…Halo. Turning it into another COD clone isnt my thing. Having infinity style game types is fine, but no way in hell should it be the majority of the game.

I’m not saying that. I know there are people that enjoy Halo 4 and I’m not going to attack them for it, just as I said that there are people who enjoy Halo 4. I’m not speaking of, lets all go back to Halo 3 and play that, not what I’m getting at, at all. Some of the things I’ve stated are things that the mods on here have said themselves in terms of wanting a Core Halo experience. People that want Halo 4 to be successful have to express that, and if it means going back to previous Halos as a way to express that then so be it.
